Abstract

Ideally, science learning should not only emphasize conceptual mastery but also foster science process skills that foster critical thinking, analytical thinking, and problem-solving. However, learning practices in schools are still predominantly memorization-oriented, thus under-utilizing students' potential to develop science process skills. This study offers a solution by developing a guided inquiry-based Student Worksheet (LKPD) on the concept of classification of living things. The purpose of this study is to produce and test the feasibility of a guided inquiry-based LKPD on the concept of classification of living things to improve students' science process skills. The uniqueness of the developed LKPD lies in its integration of guided inquiry stages with real-life classification activities, thus not only presenting material conceptually but also encouraging students to explore, observe, and analyze independently. This differentiates the resulting product from conventional LKPDs, which tend to contain only practice questions or material summaries. The study uses a 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), although this stage is limited to the Develop stage. The research subjects involved 9 validators (media experts, material experts, and science teachers) and 35 seventh grade junior high school students as respondents. The results showed that the average product feasibility score obtained was 86.9% which is included in the "very feasible" category. This result is supported by: Science teacher validation obtained a score of 88.7% with the "very feasible" category. Material expert validation obtained a score of 85.3% with the "very feasible" category. Media expert validation obtained a score of 86.9% with the "very feasible" category. Meanwhile, the student response rate obtained a score of 87.2% with the "very good" category.

Additional Information: Pembelajaran IPA idealnya tidak hanya menekankan penguasaan konsep, tetapi juga menumbuhkan keterampilan proses sains yang melatih kemampuan berpikir kritis, analitis, dan pemecahan masalah. Namun, praktik pembelajaran di sekolah masih dominan berorientasi pada hafalan, sehingga potensi peserta didik dalam mengembangkan keterampilan proses sains belum tergarap optimal. Penelitian ini menawarkan solusi dengan mengembangkan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) berbasis inkuiri terbimbing pada konsep klasifikasi makhluk hidup. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan dan menguji kelayakan LKPD berbasis inkuiri terbimbing pada konsep klasifikasi makhluk hidup untuk meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains peserta didik. Keunikan LKPD yang dikembangkan terletak pada integrasinya tahapan inkuiri terbimbing dengan aktivitas klasifikasi nyata, sehingga tidak hanya menyajikan materi secara konseptual, tetapi juga mendorong peserta didik melakukan eksplorasi, observasi, dan analisis mandiri. Hal ini membedakan produk yang dihasilkan dari LKPD konvensional yang cenderung berisi latihan soal atau rangkuman materi semata. Penelitian menggunakan model pengembangan 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), meskipun pada tahap ini dibatasi hingga tahap Develop. Subjek penelitian melibatkan 9 validator (ahli media, ahli materi, dan guru IPA) serta 35 peserta didik kelas VII SMP sebagai responden. Penelitian menggunakan model pengembangan 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), meskipun pada tahap ini dibatasi hingga tahap Develop. Subjek penelitian melibatkan 9 validator (ahli media, ahli materi, dan guru IPA) serta 35 peserta didik kelas VII SMP sebagai responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata skor kelayakan produk yang diperoleh sebesar 86,9% yang termasuk kategori “sangat layak”. Hasil ini didukung oleh: Validasi guru IPA memperoleh nilai sebesar 88,7% dengan kategori “sangat layak”. Validasi ahli materi memperoleh nilai sebesar 85,3% dengan kategori “sangat layak”. Validasi ahli media memperoleh nilai sebesar 86,9% dengan kategori “sangat layak”. Sementara itu, tingkat respon peserta didik memperoleh skor 87,2% dengan kategori “sangat baik”.
