Abstract
This study is based on the problem of a lack of environmental awareness among individuals, which has led to unsafe and uncomfortable environmental conditions. The objectives of this study are: (1) to identify the environmental awareness of the current Green Generation at SMP Negeri 248 Jakarta, and (2) to analyze the formation of environmental awareness through the wise waste management program among the Green Generation. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, with data obtained from observations, interviews, and documentation with the school and the Green Generation involved in the wise waste school program, as a way to overcome the environmental awareness crisis. The results of the study show that the environmental awareness character of the Green Generation is influenced by technology and information, which makes it easier for the Green Generation to access information about environmental issues. However, technology also has a negative impact on the use of disposable items due to an instant lifestyle, which even causes an increase in inorganic waste. Based on the results of observations and interviews, the process of shaping environmentally conscious character through the Green Generation's wise waste management program was carried out through concrete actions, such as wise waste management socialization, waste sorting activities, waste processing into compost, and ecobricks. The handson activities in the wise waste management school program make it easier to understand environmentally conscious character not only theoretically but also practically. Thus, it can be concluded that the wise waste management school program activities provide solutions in shaping the environmentally conscious character of the Green Generation in today's changing times through concrete actions.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini berdasarkan pada permasalahan kurangnya karakter peduli lingkungan pada setiap individu, sehingga menyebabkan kondisi lingkungan menjadi kurang aman dan nyaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui karakter peduli lingkungan Generasi Hijau pada masa kini di SMP Negeri 248 Jakarta, dan (2) menganalisis pembentukan karakter peduli lingkungan melalui program sekolah bijak sampah pada kelompok Generasi Hijau. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif, dengan data yang diperoleh dari hasil observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi dengan pihak sekolah dan Generasi Hijau yang terlibat dalam program sekolah bijak sampah, sebagai salah satu cara untuk mengatasi krisis peduli lingkungan. Hasil dari penelitian yang didapatkan menunjukkan bahwa karakter peduli lingkungan Generasi Hijau dipengaruhi oleh teknologi dan informasi, sehingga memberikan kemudahan bagi Generasi Hijau dalam mengakses informasi mengenai isu-isu peduli lingkungan, akan tetapi teknologi juga memberikan dampak negatif dalam penggunaan barang sekali pakai akibat gaya hidup yang instan, bahkan menyebabkan bertambahnya sampah anorganik. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan wawancara proses pembentukan karakter peduli lingkungan melalui program sekolah bijak sampah pada Generasi Hijau dilakukan dengan aksi nyata, seperti sosialisasi bijak sampah, kegiatan pilah sampah, pengolahan sampah menjadi kompos, dan ecobrick. Kegiatan praktik langsung pada program sekolah bijak sampah memberikan kemudahan dalam memahami karakter peduli lingkungan bukan hanya secara teoritis tetapi juga secara praktis. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan program sekolah bijak sampah memberikan solusi dalam pembentukan karakter peduli lingkungan Generasi Hijau pada perubahan zaman saat ini melalui aksi nyata. | |||||||||
