Abstract

In chemistry education, students are often confronted with various phenomena that occur in their surroundings, including problems related to chemical concepts. This study aims to assess the development process, feasibility, and student response to a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) teaching module based on practical work in formaldehyde detection using red roses as a natural indicator, with the aim of stimulating student creativity. The module was developed using the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. A limited trial was conducted on 40 students to assess the feasibility and response to the developed module. Data were collected through student needs analysis questionnaires, validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and learning implementation observation sheets. Validation was carried out by seven subject matter and media experts using Aiken's V index. The validation results showed a score of 0.89 for the material aspect and 0.89 for the media aspect, indicating that the practical PBL teaching module is feasible and valid for use. In addition, the student response questionnaire showed a percentage of 84% in the “Very Good” category, so it can be concluded that this module is very feasible to use in formalin detection learning and effective in supporting efforts to stimulate student creativity.

Additional Information: Dalam pembelajaran kimia, siswa sering dihadapkan pada berbagai fenomena yang terjadi di lingkungan sekitar, termasuk permasalahan yang berkaitan dengan konsep-konsep kimia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai proses pengembangan, kelayakan, dan tanggapan siswa terhadap modul ajar Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbasis praktikum dalam deteksi formalin menggunakan bunga mawar merah sebagai indikator alami, dengan tujuan menstimulus kreativitas siswa. Modul dikembangkan menggunakan model ADDIE, yang meliputi tahap Analisis, Desain, Pengembangan, Implementasi, dan Evaluasi. Uji coba terbatas dilakukan pada 40 orang siswa untuk menilai keterlaksanaan dan respons terhadap modul yang dikembangkan. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket analisis kebutuhan siswa, lembar validasi, angket respons siswa, serta lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Validasi dilakukan oleh tujuh ahli materi dan media menggunakan indeks Aiken’s V. Hasil validasi menunjukkan skor 0,89 pada aspek materi dan 0,89 pada aspek media, yang mengindikasikan bahwa modul ajar PBL berbasis praktikum layak dan valid digunakan. Selain itu, angket respons siswa menunjukkan persentase 84% dengan kategori “Sangat Baik”, sehingga modul ini dapat disimpulkan sangat layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran deteksi formalin dan efektif dalam mendukung upaya menstimulus kreativitas siswa.
