Abstract
This study was conducted to analyse the potential of converting waste into electrical energy through the application of Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology in Tangerang City. The background of this study is based on the high volume of waste generated in the city of Tangerang and the need for a solution to convert waste into environmentally friendly renewable energy. The study was conducted using a dynamic system simulation method using Powersim software with secondary data from 2024. The waste management model developed consists of three integrated submodels, including the calculation of waste generation rates, the combustion process to produce thermal energy, and the conversion of heat into electrical energy through ORC. The simulation results show that the potential for electrical energy increases every year from 9,449,321.51 kWh in 2024 to 59,509,966.94 kWh in 2029 in line with the 0.79% annual growth in waste volume. The conclusion of the study indicates that the application of ORC technology can be a good alternative to reduce waste generation while generating potential electrical energy in Tangerang City.

Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada tingginya volume timbulan sampah di Kota Tangerang dan memerlukan solusi pengelolaan sampah menjadi energi terbarukan yang ramah lingkungan. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode simulasi model sistem dinamis menggunakan perangkat lunak Powersim dengan data sekunder tahun 2024. Model pengelolaan sampah yang dibangun terdiri dari tiga submodel yang saling terintegrasi, meliputi perhitungan laju timbulan sampah, proses pembakaran untuk menghasilkan energi panas, dan konversi panas menjadi energi listrik melalui ORC. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa potensi energi listrik meningkat setiap tahun dari 9.449.321,51 kWh pada tahun 2024 menjadi 59.509.966,94 kWh pada tahun 2029 seiring dengan pertumbuhan jumlah sampah 0,79% per tahun. Kesimpulan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknologi ORC dapat menjadi alternatif yang baik untuk mengurangi volume timbulan sampah sekaligus menghasilkan potensi energi listrik di Kota Tangerang. | |||||||||
