Abstract

This study aims to describe how teachers' strategies improve critical thinking skills by applying the problem-based learning model. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used in this study are sourced from Miles and Huberman which consist of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The technique of checking and validating the research data is carried out by testing the reliability contained in increasing the persistence of observation, triangulation, peer discussions, and conducting member checks, then testing the transferability, dependability, and certainty. The results of this study indicate that (1) The learning module utilizes a problem-based learning model, making it unique. The module creates meaningful learning by solving problems relevant to students' lives. The selection of components in the learning module is tailored to the students' developmental needs. (2) The learning carried out by teachers is in accordance with the teaching module that has been prepared which is accompanied by class management that is arranged with an effort to create learning that is fun and not boring for students by emphasizing learning on problems. (3) The results of implementing the problem-based learning model in class as an effort to improve critical thinking skills are assessed as having improved. This can be seen from the students being active in discussion activities, respecting the opinions of their friends, asking questions, and conveying the results of their discussions with their study groups.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tentang bagaimana strategi guru dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dengan menerapkan model problem based learning. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini bersumber dari Miles dan Huberman yang terdiri dari pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Teknik pemeriksaan dan keabsahan data penelitian ini dilakukan dengan uji kepercayaan yang termuat dari peningkatan ketekunan pengamatan, triangulasi, diskusi rekan sejawat, dan mengadakan membercheck, lalu uji keteralihan, uji kebergantungan, dan uji kepastian. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) Modul ajar dengan penggunaan model problem based learning menjadi salah satu keunikan dari pengembangan modul ajar, modul ajar yang dikembangkan menciptakan pembelajaran bermakna dengan pemecahan masalah yang dekat dengan kehidupan peserta didik. Pemilihan komponen pada modul ajar sudah disesuaikan dengan perkembangan peserta didik. (2) Pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan guru sesuai dengan modul ajar yang telah disusun yang disertai pengelolaan kelas yang diatur dengan upaya menciptakan pembelajaran yang menyenangkan dan tidak membosankan bagi peserta didik dengan menekankan pembelajaran pada masalah. (3) Hasil menerapkan model problem based learning di kelas sebagai upaya meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dinilai ada peningkatan. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari Peserta didik aktif dalam kegiatan berdiskusi, menghargai pendapat teman, bertanya jawab, dan menyampaikan hasil diskusinya dengan kelompok belajarnya.
