Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of calcination temperature variation on the crystal structure and morphology of sodium-ion battery cathode material synthesized using solid state method. The materials used are NaFePO4 and NaNiPO4 which are prepared through precursor materials through grinding, drying, and calcination processes with temperature variations of 650℃, 700℃ and 750℃. Characterization was carried out using X-ray Diffraction (XRD) to analyze the crystal phase, crystal size and degree of crystallinity and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) to see the morphology and particle size. XRD results show that in the NaFePO4 sample, the dominant phase formed is Na3Fe2P3O12 while NaFePO4 is only formed up to 11% at 750℃. Meanwhile, in the NaNiPO4 sample, the NaNiPO4 phase is not formed, the dominating phase is Na4Ni3P4O15. Crystal size and crystallinity increase as the calcination temperature increases. SEM tests show that the particle morphology is irregular, porous, and agglomerated. Although the main phase has not formed dominantly, the results show that both materials still have potential as cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi suhu kalsinasi terhadap struktur kristasl dan morfologi material katoda baterai natrium-ion yang disintesis menggunakan metode solid state. Material yang digunakan yaitu NaFePO4 dan NaNiPO4 yang disiapkan melalui bahan-bahan prekusor melalui proses penggilingan, pengeringan, dan kalsinasi dengan variasi suhu 650℃, 700℃ dan 750℃. Karakterisasi dilakukan menggunakan X-ray Diffraction (XRD) untuk menganalisis fasa kristal, ukuran kristal serta derajat kristalinitas dan Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) untuk melihat morfologi serta ukuran partikel. Hasil XRD menunjukkan pada sempel NaFePO4 fasa dominan yang terbentuk adalah Na3Fe2P3O12 sedangkan NaFePO4 hanya terbentuk hingga 11% pada suhu 750℃. Sementara itu, pada sempel NaNiPO4, fasa NaNiPO4 tidak terbentuk, fasa yang mendominasi adalah Na4Ni3P4O15. Ukuran kristal dan kristalinitas meningkat seiring kenaikan suhu kalsinasi. Uji SEM menunjukkan bahwa morfologi partikel bersifat tidak beraturan, berpori, dan mengalami aglomerasi. Meskipun fasa utama belum terbentuk secara dominan, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua material tetap memiliki potensi sebagai material katoda untuk baterai natrium-ion.
