Abstract

A comprehensive understanding of scientific concepts is essential in the learning process; however, students often experience misconceptions, particularly in photosynthesis material. These misconceptions can hinder the development of scientific conceptions and must be addressed through appropriate instructional strategies, one of which is the Sachs test practicum method.This study aims to determine the effect of the Sachs test practicum method on reducing misconceptions about photosynthesis among twelfth-grade students. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. The independent variable was the Sachs test practicum method, and the dependent variable was the reduction of misconceptions. The population of this study comprised all twelfth-grade students at SMAN 1 Kota Serang during the 2024/2025 academic year. The sample consisted of two classes: XII IPA 1 as the control group and XII IPA 2 as the experimental group, selected using simple random sampling. Data collection techniques included tests, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the Z-test to examine the hypothesis. The results of the hypothesis testing indicated that the Sachs test practicum method had a significant effect on reducing students’ misconceptions about photosynthesis, with a reduction rate of 24.4%.

Additional Information: Pemahaman konsep yang utuh merupakan hal penting dalam proses pembelajaran sains, namun pada kenyataannya siswa kerap mengalami miskonsepsi, khususnya pada materi fotosintesis. Miskonsepsi ini dapat menghambat terbentuknya konsepsi ilmiah dan perlu ditangani melalui strategi pembelajaran yang sesuai, salah satunya dengan metode praktikum Uji Sachs. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode praktikum uji Sachs terhadap penurunan miskonsepsi siswa kelas XII pada materi fotosintesis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi-eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest control group. Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah metode praktikum uji Sachs, sedangkan variabel terikatnya adalah penurunan miskonsepsi. Populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh siswa kelas XII SMAN 1 Kota Serang tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Sampel terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu kelas XII IPA 1 sebagai kelas kontrol dan XII IPA 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara simple random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji-Z untuk menguji hipotesis. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa metode praktikum uji Sachs berpengaruh terhadap penurunan miskonsepsi siswa pada materi fotosintesis dengan penurunan miskonsepsi sebesar 24,4%.
