Abstract
The increasing cases of violence and deviant behavior among elementary school students highlight the crucial role of teachers in designing learning that supports the development of emotional intelligence in Generation Alpha, despite their reputation for having high intellectual intelligence. This research aims to examine the management of Generation Alpha students’ emotional intelligence in classroom learning, describe teachers’ pedagogical competence in managing emotional intelligence during classroom learning, and outline the challenges teachers face in managing emotional intelligence of Generation Alpha students in Grade 1 at SDN Tegalkembang. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using data collection techniques such as activity analysis through observation and interviews, supported by documentation of classroom situations during the research period from April 24, 2025, to May 26, 2025. The findings reveal that teachers demonstrated strong pedagogical competence in the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning. Teachers were able to identify students’ emotional needs, design learning activities that foster positive emotions, and implement lessons that created an enjoyable and empathetic classroom atmosphere. In the evaluation stage, teachers consistently reflected on the learning process and monitored students’ emotional development through intensive communication with parents and daily observation, although a specific written evaluation format was not yet available. This study also identifies five main challenges faced by teachers: the negative influence of the external environment, low family involvement, limited practice of religious values at home, uncontrolled exposure to social media, and the school’s limited capacity to supervise students’ interactions outside learning hours. | Additional Information: | Meningkatnya kasus kekerasan dan perilaku menyimpang di kalangan peserta didik Sekolah Dasar, menunjukkan pentingnya peran guru dalam merancang pembelajaran yang mendukung pengembangan kecerdasan emosional gen alpha meskipun mereka dikenal memiliki kecerdasan intelektual tinggi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk dapat mengetahui pengelolaan kecerdasan emosional peserta didik gen alpha pada pembelajaran di Kelas, mendeskripsikan kompetensi pedagogik guru dalam pengelolaan kecerdasan emosional peserta didik gen alpha pada pembelajaran di kelas, serta mendeskripsikan tantangan kompetensi pedagogik guru dalam pengelolaan kecerdasan emosional peserta didik gen alpha pada pembelajaran di kelas I SDN Tegalkembang. Pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data analisis kegiatan melalui observasi dan wawancara yang dapat dibuktikan dengan dokumentasi pada situasi kelas selama penelitian berlangsung mulai tanggal 24 April 2025 hingga tanggal 26 Mei 2025. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru telah menunjukkan kompetensi pedagogik yang kuat dalam tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi pembelajaran. Guru mampu mengidentifikasi kebutuhan emosional peserta didik, merancang kegiatan pembelajaran yang mendukung emosi positif, serta melaksanakan pembelajran yang mampu menciptakan suasana kelas yang menyenangkan dan penuh empati. Pada tahap evaluasi, guru secara konsisten melakukan refleksi pembelajaran serta memantau perkembangan emosional peserta didik melalui komunikasi intensif dengan orang tua dan observasi harian, meskipun belum didukung format evaluasi tertulis secara khusus. Lima tantangan utama yang dihadapi guru juga diungkapkan dalam penellitian ini, tantangan tersebut diantaranya pengaruh negatif dari lingkungan luar sekolah, rendahnya keterlibatan keluarga, minimnya pembiasaan nilai agama di rumah, paparan media sosial yang tidak terkontrol, dan keterbatasan sekolah dalam mengawasi interaksi peserta didik di luar jam belajar.
