Abstract
This research is motivated by the importance of worship music in shaping the spiritual experience of young Christians, particularly in the context of worship and fellowship. The song “Praise” by Elevation Worship was chosen as the object of study because it carries a strong message of faith, encouraging believers to continue praising God in all circumstances, both in joy and in sorrow. The problem addressed in this study is how the song’s lyrics are understood by Christian students at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University (Untirta) and how it influences their spiritual experience.The purpose of this study is to reveal the meaning of the “Praise” lyrics from a pragmatic perspective, particularly in terms of illocutionary speech acts, and to explore its impact on faith engagement and fellowship among members of the Christian Student Fellowship (PMK) at Untirta. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through lyric text analysis, in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.The findings indicate that the “Praise” lyrics contain various illocutionary speech acts that invite, affirm, and strengthen the listener’s faith. More than just a song of praise, “Praise” functions as an emotional and spiritual bridge that is highly relevant to the faith life of today’s young Christian generation

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya music rohani dalam membentuk pengalaman spiritual generasi muda Kristen, khususnya dalam konteks ibadah dan persekutuan. Lagu “Praise” karya Elevation Worship di[ilih sebagai objek penelitian karena menganddung pesan iman yang kuat dan mengajak jemaat untuk tetap memuji Tuhan dalam segala situasi, baik dalam keadaan suka maupun duka. Permasalahan yang diangkat adalah bagaimana makna lirik lagu ini dipahami oleh mahasiswa Kristen di Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa (Untirta) serta bagaimana pengaruhnya terhadap pengalaman rohani mereka. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkap makna lirik lagu “Praise” dalam perspektif pragmatik, khususnya tindak tutur ilokusi, dan mengeksplorasi pengaruhnya terhadap penghayatan iman serta kebersamaan dalam Persekutuan Mahasiswa Kristen (PMK) Untirta. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui analisis teks lirik, wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipasif, serta dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa lirik “Praise” mengandung berbagai tidak tutur ilokusi yang mengajak, meneguhkan, dan menguatkan iman pendengarnya. Lebih dari sekedar lagu pujian, “Praise” menjadi jembatan emosional dan spiritual yang relevan bagi kehidupan iman generasi muda Kristen.
