Abstract
Over time, the existence of traditional arts has increasingly diminished amidst the rapid flow of modernization. One such art form is Dogdog Lojor, which holds an important role in the life of the Kasepuhan Citorek indigenous community. This study aims to explore the meanings attributed by the community to Dogdog Lojor in cultural, spiritual, and social contexts, and to examine how modernization affects the preservation of these meanings. Dogdog Lojor is a traditional art that not only serves as entertainment during customary ceremonies but also acts as a medium of spiritual communication with ancestors and a reinforcement of cultural identity. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with phenomenological methods and the theory of symbolic interactionism. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The findings show that Dogdog Lojor is perceived as an ancestral legacy rich in symbolic meaning. The older generation sees it as part of their belief system and way of life, while the younger generation has begun adapting the art through social media and collaborations with modern art forms for entertainment. This indicates a transformation of meaning that still preserves the essence of local culture.

| Additional Information: | Seiring berjalannya waktu, permasalahan terhadap semakin berkurangnya eksisteni pada kesenian tradisional di tengah berkembang pesatnya arus modernisasi, salah satunya kesenian Dogdog Lojor yang merupakan salah satu bagian penting pada kehidupan masyarakat di Kasepuhan Adat Citorek. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pemaknaan masyarakat adat Kasepuhan Citorek terhadap kesenian Dogdog Lojor dalam aspek budaya, spiritual, dan sosial, serta melihat pengaruh modernisasi terhadap pelestarian makna tersebut. Dogdog Lojor merupakan kesenian tradisional yang tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai hiburan dalam prosesi adat, tetapi juga sebagai simbol komunikasi spiritual dengan leluhur dan penguat identitas budaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode fenomenologi dan teori interaksionisme simbolik. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara semi terstruktur, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Dogdog Lojor dimaknai sebagai warisan leluhur yang sarat makna simbolik. Generasi tua melihatnya sebagai bagian dari sistem kepercayaan dan nilai hidup, sementara generasi muda mulai mengadaptasi kesenian ini melalui media sosial dan kolaborasi seni modern sebagai hiburan. Hal ini mencerminkan adanya transformasi makna yang tetap mempertahankan esensi budaya lokal. | ||||||
