Abstract
This study explores the perceptions of eleventh-grade students on the use of the Twitter account @englishfess_ in learning English vocabulary at SMAN 14 Kota Tangerang. Using a qualitative descriptive research methodology, the data was collected through interviews and focus group discussions with 13 participants who actively use the @englishfess_ account. The findings revealed that students generally considered @englishfess_ as a useful and engaging tool for vocabulary learning due to its accessibility, interactive features, and exposure to real-world language examples. The informal and accessible nature of Twitter allowed students to learn vocabulary in a low-pressure environment, thereby increasing their motivation and retention. However, several challenges such as the lack of structured learning, the presence of frivolous or irrelevant responses and the follow back system imposed by the admin of the autobase @englishfess_ account were noted as limitations. The study concluded that @englishfess_ serves as a valuable supplementary resource for vocabulary acquisition, suggesting that educators consider integrating the social media platform into language learning strategies to complement formal instruction. Future research is recommended to explore the long-term impact of the platform on vocabulary retention and proficiency.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi persepsi siswa kelas sebelas tentang penggunaan akun Twitter @englishfess_ dalam pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Inggris di SMAN 14 Kota Tangerang. Menggunakan metodologi penelitian deskriptif kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan diskusi kelompok terfokus (FGD) dengan 13 peserta yang aktif menggunakan akun @englishfess_. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa siswa umumnya menganggap @englishfess_ sebagai alat yang bermanfaat dan menarik untuk pembelajaran kosakata karena aksesibilitasnya, fitur-fiturnya yang interaktif, dan paparannya terhadap contoh-contoh bahasa di dunia nyata. Sifat Twitter yang informal dan mudah diakses memungkinkan siswa untuk mempelajari kosakata dalam lingkungan yang tidak terlalu menekan, sehingga meningkatkan motivasi dan daya ingat mereka. Namun, beberapa tantangan seperti kurangnya pembelajaran terstruktur, adanya respons yang tidak relevan atau tidak relevan, dan sistem "follow back" yang diberlakukan oleh admin akun autobase @englishfess_ tercatat sebagai keterbatasan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa @englishfess_ berfungsi sebagai sumber daya tambahan yang berharga untuk pemerolehan kosakata, yang menunjukkan bahwa para pendidik mempertimbangkan untuk mengintegrasikan platform media sosial ini ke dalam strategi pembelajaran bahasa untuk melengkapi pembelajaran formal. Penelitian di masa mendatang direkomendasikan untuk mengeksplorasi dampak jangka panjang platform terhadap retensi dan kemahiran kosakata. | |||||||||
