Abstract

Hypertension is a prevalent chronic disease both in Indonesia and globally. Adherence to antihypertensive medication plays a crucial role in controlling blood pressure and preventing complications such as stroke, heart failure, and kidney disease. This study aims to determine the effect of medication adherence on improving knowledge among hypertensive patients, particularly the elderly, in the Singandaru Health Center area. The method used is a case study with a family nursing care approach that includes assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The nursing care results indicate an improvement in patients’ knowledge and health behavior after receiving education and interventions using leaflet media. This study demonstrates that medication adherence combined with proper education can reduce knowledge deficits and enhance the quality of life for hypertensive patients.

Hipertensi merupakan salah satu penyakit kronis yang banyak terjadi di Indonesia dan dunia. Kepatuhan dalam meminum obat antihipertensi berperan penting dalam pengendalian tekanan darah dan mencegah komplikasi seperti stroke, gagal jantung, dan penyakit ginjal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kepatuhan meminum obat dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan penderita hipertensi, khususnya lansia, di wilayah Puskesmas Singandaru. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi kasus dengan pendekatan asuhan keperawatan keluarga yang meliputi pengkajian, diagnosis, intervensi, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Hasil dari asuhan keperawatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan perilaku sehat pasien setelah diberikan edukasi dan intervensi berbasis media leaflet. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kepatuhan meminum obat yang disertai edukasi yang tepat dapat mengurangi defisit pengetahuan dan meningkatkan kualitas hidup penderita hipertensi.
