Abstract
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterised by elevated blood glucose levels caused by the disruption of pancreatic beta cell receptors, resulting in suboptimal functioning of the produced insulin. Efforts to control blood glucose that can be undertaken besides pharmacology include non-pharmacological methods using relaxation therapy because it can regulate the release of hormones that have the potential to increase blood glucose levels, one of which is progressive muscle relaxation therapy. Method: This study uses a case study research method on 2 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus using the Standard Operating Procedure for Progressive Muscle Relaxation Therapy for 15 minutes, conducted once a day over a period of 5 days. Results: The assessment revealed that both patients had a priority issue of unstable blood glucose levels, with changes in blood glucose levels before and after the intervention of progressive muscle relaxation therapy in both type 2 diabetes mellitus patients but it wasn’t yet significant. Conclusion: The provision of progressive muscle relaxation therapy has an effect on reducing blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the Garuda treatment room on the 5th floor of the Banten Provincial Hospital.

| Additional Information: | Latar belakang: Diabetes melitus tipe 2 merupakan gangguan metabolik yang ditandai oleh peningkatan kadar glukosa darah yang disebabkan oleh terganggunya reseptor sel beta pankreas sehingga insulin yang diproduksi tidak bekerja secara optimal. Upaya mengontrol glukosa darah yang bisa dilakukan selain farmakologi adalah metode non farmakologi menggunakan terapi relaksasi karena dapat membantu menekan pengeluaran hormon yang berpotensi untuk meningkatkan kadar glukosa darah, salah satu terapi tersebut adalah terapi relaksasi otot progresif. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian studi kasus pada 2 pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2 menggunakan SOP Terapi Relaksasi Otot Progresif selama 15 menit yang dilakukan sebanyak 1 kali dalam sehari dalam rentang waktu 5 hari. Hasil: Pengkajian didapatkan kedua pasien memiliki prioritas masalah ketidakstabilan kadar glukosa darah, terdapat penurunan kadar glukosa darah sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan intervensi terapi relaksasi otot progresif pada kedua pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2 tetapi belum signifikan. Kesimpulan: Pemberian terapi relaksasi otot progresif berpengaruh terhadap penurunan kadar glukosa darah pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2 di ruang perawatan Garuda lantai 5 RSUD Provinsi Banten. | ||||||
