Abstract
"Toponymy of Village Naming in the Cilegon City Area Based on the Unique Morphemes of Ci- and Kubang". Thesis. Master of Education Program Indonesian Language Education Study Program. Postgraduate at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. Supervisor I Prof. Asep Muhyidin, M.Pd., and Supervisor II Prof. Dr. H. Ediwarman, M.Pd. The background behind village names is important to understand so that people can recognize and understand the character of a place name. By understanding the background of a place name, one can also understand the past history that occurred in a settlement or village, thus becoming a collective memory of the local community's identity. The interest in conducting toponymic research related to village names is because its implementation directly touches on the community's culture, thus increasing insight into local language knowledge and its development in society. This study aims to describe the grammatical review of the toponymy of village names in Cilegon City, categorize names in Cilegon City based on the review of the name's origin, and describe the lexical and cultural meanings. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data used in this paper comes from written data sources and oral data sources. Based on the research results, toponymy in Cilegon City, such as Ciora, is included in the adverb category. These naming factors are related to the geographical and sociocultural conditions of the local community

Ediwarman, M.Pd. Latar belakang dibalik nama-nama kampung penting untuk diketahui supaya masyarakat dapat mengenal dan mengetahui karakter nama suatu tempat. Dengan mengetahui latar belakang suatu nama tempat, dapat diketahui pula sejarah masa lampau yang pernah terjadi di suatu pemukiman atau kampung sehingga dapat menjadi ingatan kolektif jati diri masyarakat setempat. Ketertarikan untuk melakukan penelitian toponimi terkait dengan nama-nama kampung dilakukan karena dalam pelaksanaannya menyentuh langsung kebudayaan masyarakat sehingga dapat menambah wawasan pengetahuan bahasa lokal dan perkembangannya dalam masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tinjauan gramatikal dalam toponimi nama-nama kampung di Kota Cilegon, mengategorikan nama-nama di Kota Cilegon berdasarkan tinjauan asal nama, dan mendeskripsikan makna leksikal dan makna kultural. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitiatif. Data yang digunakan dalam tulisan ini berasal dari sumber data tertulis dan sumber data lisan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan toponimi di Kota Cilegon seperti Ciora, yang termasuk dalam kategori adverbia. Faktor penamaan tersebut berkaitan dengan kondisi geografis dan sosial budaya masyarakat setempat. Kata Kunci : Toponimi, Tinjauan Gramatikal, Makna Leksikal, Makna Kultural. | |||||||||
