Abstract
Heryanti. 2025. 2289210038. “Hegemonic Practices towards Teenagers in Music”. Thesis. Department of Performing Arts Education. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. This study aims to determine, analyze, and describe the practice of hegemony towards adolescents in music and the relationship of hegemony to the formation of adolescent identity. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation of five adolescent subjects aged 11–24 years who are active in musical activities. The results of the study indicate that the practice of hegemony occurs through the influence of family, social environment, community, and mass media, which shape adolescents' musical tastes and preferences. In the process, adolescents are not passive, but show agency by selecting and responding to the influences they receive. These hegemonic practices significantly influence the formation of their self-identity, both in terms of self-expression, lifestyle, and social affiliation. These findings are analyzed using Antonio Gramsci's theory of hegemony and the theory of adolescent identity development from Erik Erikson and James Marcia. This study is expected to contribute to the study of arts education and the socio-cultural understanding of adolescents in the context of music. Keywords: Hegemony, Self-Identity, Teenagers

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk Mengetahui, menganalisis, dan mendeskripsikan praktik hegemoni terhadap remaja dalam bermusik serta relasi hegemoni terhadap pembentukan identitas remaja. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi terhadap lima subjek remaja berusia 11–24 tahun yang aktif dalam kegiatan bermusik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa praktik hegemoni terjadi melalui pengaruh keluarga, lingkungan sosial, komunitas, dan media massa, yang membentuk selera serta preferensi musik remaja. Dalam prosesnya, remaja tidak bersifat pasif, tetapi menunjukkan agensi dengan menyeleksi dan merespons pengaruh yang mereka terima. Praktik hegemoni tersebut secara signifikan memengaruhi pembentukan identitas diri mereka, baik dari aspek ekspresi diri, gaya hidup, maupun afiliasi sosial. Temuan ini dianalisis menggunakan teori hegemoni Antonio Gramsci dan teori perkembangan identitas remaja dari Erik Erikson dan James Marcia.
