Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effect of the project-based learning (PjBL) model with the Padlet application on the critical thinking skills of grade XI students in Indonesian history learning, particularly on the topics of Ethical Politics and the National Movement. The method used is a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling, involving two classes at SMAN 22 Jakarta Timur: XI F-I as the experimental class and XI F-VII as the control class, each comprising 33 students. The research instrument consisted of a 10-item essay test developed based on critical thinking indicators according to Ennis and validated by experts. Data were analysed using a two-tailed t-test with a pooled variance formula via Microsoft Excel 2016. The analysis results showed that the average post-test score of the experimental class was 72.12, higher than that of the control class, which was 65.38. The t-test yielded a calculated t-value of 2.32 > table t-value of 2.00 at a significance level of 0.05, thus rejecting H₀ and accepting H₁. This indicates that there is a significant effect of the application of the Padlet-based project-based learning (PjBL) model on students' critical thinking skills. This is evidenced by the superiority of the experimental class in all critical thinking indicators, including the ability to explain, conclude, and design problem-solving strategies. Additionally, project-based learning (PjBL) encourages students' active participation, creativity, collaboration, and digital literacy through the creation and publication of infographics on Padlet. Therefore, project-based learning (PjBL) using the Padlet application is worthy of consideration as an innovative learning strategy for strengthening 21st-century skills and developing the Pancasila Student Profile.

Data dianalisis menggunakan uji-t dua pihak dengan rumus pooled variance melalui Microsoft Excel 2016. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata post-test kelas eksperimen sebesar 72,12, lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol sebesar 65,38.
