Abstract

This study aims to determine the use of media by teachers, the media development process, the suitability of media, the increase in students cognitive abilities regarding the use of media, and students responses to media smart box mathematics on multiplication material in grade II of elementary school. The research method uses the R&D approach (Research and Development) with the ADDIE development model, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation. Data collection techniques in this study used interviews, observations, tests and needs analysis questionnaires, product feasibility validation questionnaires for instrument expert validators, media experts, material experts, and student response questionnaires. The subjects in this study were grade II students of SDN Taman Ciruas Permai with a total of 30 students. The results of the study showed that the media smart box mathematics has never been used by teachers because of limited ideas in making it so that it requires collaboration in making it, this mathematics smart box media is "Very Eligible" for use with an average result from media expert validation of 89% "Very Eligible" and an average of material experts 93% "Very Eligible" and student responses with an average of 94.66% "Very Eligible" and can improve students' cognitive understanding with an average N-Gain score of 82.2% "Effective". Thus, the media smart box mathematics on multiplication material in grade II of elementary school is very suitable for use in supporting learning in grade II of elementary school.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan media oleh guru, proses pengembangan media, kelayakan media, peningkatan kognitif peserta didik terhadap penggunaan media, dan respon peserta didik terhadap media smart box matematika pada materi perkalian di kelas II SD. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan R&D (Research and Development) dengan model pengembangan ADDIE yakni Analysis (analisis), Design (desain), Development (pengembangan), Implementation (implementasi), Evaluation (evaluasi). Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan wawancara, observasi, tes dan angket analisis kebutuhan, angket validasi kelayakan produk untuk validator ahli instrumen, ahli media, ahli materi, dan angket respon peserta didik. Subjek dalam penelitian ini yaitu peserta didik kelas II SDN Taman Ciruas Permai dengan jumlah 30 peserta didik. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa media smart box matematika belum pernah digunakan oleh guru karena keterbatasan ide dalam membuatnya sehingga membutuhkan kolaborasi dalam pembuatannya, media smart box matematika ini “Sangat Layak” untuk digunakan dengan rata-rata hasil dari validasi ahli media 89% “Sangat Layak” dan rata-rata ahli materi 93% “Sangat Layak” dan respon peserta didik dengan rata-rata 94,66% “Sangat Layak” serta dapat meningkatkan pemahaman kognitif peserta didik dengan hasil rata rata skor N-Gain 82,2% “Efektif”. Dengan demikian media smart box matematika pada materi perkalian di kelas II SD sangat layak untuk digunakan dalam menunjang pembelajaran di kelas II SD.
