Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of workload on employee performance with work stress as a mediating variable and digital communication as a moderating variable at a flour mills company in Cilegon. The research employed a quantitative approach, collecting data through questionnaires from 133 respondents, analyzed using SmartPLS version 4 software. The results indicate that workload has a significant negative effect on employee performance and a significant positive effect on work stress. Work stress negatively and significantly affects employee performance, confirming its mediating role between workload and performance. However, digital communication was found not to significantly moderate the relationship between workload and employee performance. These findings suggest the importance of managing workload and work stress, as well as optimizing digital communication supported by proper training and organizational culture to improve employee performance. This study provides practical contributions for management in the flour mills industry, especially in effective human resource management.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh beban kerja terhadap kinerja karyawan dengan stres kerja sebagai variabel mediasi dan komunikasi digital sebagai variabel moderasi pada salah satu perusahaan flour mills di Cilegon. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner kepada 133 responden dan dianalisis menggunakan software SmartPLS versi 4. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa beban kerja berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan, serta berpengaruh positif terhadap stres kerja. Stres kerja juga berpengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan, yang menunjukkan bahwa stres menjadi mediator dalam hubungan beban kerja dan kinerja. Namun, komunikasi digital tidak berperan signifikan sebagai variabel moderasi antara beban kerja dan kinerja karyawan. Temuan ini menyarankan pentingnya pengelolaan beban kerja dan stres kerja serta optimalisasi komunikasi digital yang didukung oleh pelatihan dan budaya kerja yang tepat untuk meningkatkan kinerja karyawan. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi praktis bagi manajemen di industri flour mills khususnya dalam mengelola sumber daya manusia secara efektif
