Abstract
This study aims to examine the effect of leverage on firm value using profitability as an intervening variable. In this study, firm value is measured by price book value, leverage is measured by debt equity ratio, and profitability is measured by return on assets. The population in this study is non-cyclical consumer sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2014-2023, with a purposive sampling technique. The analysis methods used are classical assumption tests, partial tests (t-tests), path analysis, sobel test and data testing is carried out with the help of SPSS 23 software. The results of the hypothesis test and path analysis show that: 1) Leverage has a negative effect on firm value. 2) Leverage has a negative effect on profitability. 3) Profitability has a positive effect on firm value. 4) Profitability is unable to mediate the effect of leverage on firm value

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh leverage terhadap nilai perusahaan dengan menggunakan profitabilitas sebagai variabel intervening. Dalam penelitian ini, nilai perusahaan diukur dengan price book value, leverage diukur dengan debt equity ratio, dan profitabilitas diukur dengan return on assets. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu perusahaan sektor consumer non cyclicals yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) periode 2014-2023, dengan teknik purposive sampling. Metode analisis yang digunakan ialah uji asumsi klasik, uji parsial (uji t), path analysis, sobel test dan pengujian data dilakukan dengan bantuan software SPSS 23. Hasil uji hipotesis, path analysis dan sobel test menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Leverage berpengaruh negatif terhadap nilai perusahaan. 2) Leverage berpengaruh negatif terhadap profitabilitas. 3) Profitabilitas berpengaruh positif terhadap nilai perusahaan. 4) Profitabilitas tidak mampu memediasi pengaruh leverage terhadap nilai perusahaan. | |||||||||
