Abstract
Pedestrian comes from the Latin language, from the word pedestres – pedestris, which means a person who walks on foot. One of the functions of pedestrian pathways is to accommodate the social needs of its users, both for individual social interactions and as an open space facility. The objectives of this research are to identify the types of pedestrian facilities at Campus D of the Faculty of Medicine, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, and to design pedestrian facilities at Campus D of the Faculty of Medicine, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. The data collection method used in this research is direct observation. The data collected includes vehicle traffic volume, pedestrian volume, road crossing volume, and geometric road data. The research location is the Faculty of Medicine Campus of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, specifically at Jalan Letnan Jidun No.2, Lontarbaru, Serang District, Serang City, Banten. Observations were carried out in the Campus D Kepandean area of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. The analysis uses the PV² calculation, which measures the interaction between the number of pedestrians (P) and the volume of vehicles (V) over various time intervals. The highest PV² value occurred between 12:00 and 13:00, reaching 4.96 × 10⁹, indicating a high potential risk for pedestrians during that time. In general, the PV² value increases during the day and begins to decline towards the afternoon. Based on the criteria for determining crossing facilities, since the PV² value exceeds 10⁸, the recommended type of facility is a Pelican Crossing with a waiting area or a Pedestrian Overpass (JPO) to enhance pedestrian safety and reduce conflicts with vehicles. In pedestrian design planning, it is expected that all required criteria are met in every pedestrian facility design.
