Abstract
ABSTRACT THE EFFECT OF USING DIGITAL COMICS AND PICTURE SERIES MEDIA ON THE NARRATIVE WRITING SKILLS OF GRADE VII STUDENTS OF SMPN 20 KOTA SERANG Many students have difficulty finding the flow or core of the story to be able to write a good narrative, then assume writing narrative is a difficult skill. Researchers are interested in using learning media as a learning tool that is able to create an interesting learning atmosphere and optimize the process for better learning outcomes in writing narratives for students. Therefore, this study aims to describe the effect of using digital comic media, describe the effect of using serial image media, and to describe the difference in the effect of using digital comic media and using serial image media on the narrative writing skills of class VII students at SMPN 20 Kota Serang. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental method of pretest-posttest control group design. The sampling technique uses a simple random sampling technique that gives rise to class VII D as the experimental class and class VII B as the control class. The data obtained are in the form of narrative writing test results from the pretest-posttest through statistical calculations with the help of SPSS version 25. Hypothesis testing is done by t-test. The results of the T-test show that digital comic media has an effect on the narrative writing skills of class VII students at SMPN 20 Kota Serang. This can be proven by the Sig. value. (2-tailed) from the results of the initial test data (pretest) and the final test (posttest) of the experimental class of 0.000. This value is smaller than the hypothesis testing criteria, namely <0.05, meaning (0.000 <0.05) so that the testing criteria indicate that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. Serial image media has an effect on the narrative writing skills of class VII students of SMPN 20 Kota Serang. This can be proven by the Sig. value (2-tailed) from the results of the initial test data (pretest) and the final test (posttest) of the control class of 0.000. This value is smaller than the hypothesis testing criteria, namely <0.05, meaning (0.000 <0.05) so that the testing criteria indicate that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. There is a difference between digital comic media and serial image media on the narrative writing skills of class VII students of SMPN 20 Kota Serang. This can be proven based on the results of the independent sample hypothesis test of this study, the Sig. value. (2-tailed) with equal variances assumed for the posttest data of the experimental and control classes was 0.000. This value is smaller than the hypothesis testing criteria, namely <0.05. Peneliti tertarik untuk menggunakan media pembelajaran sebagai sarana pembelajaran yang mampu membangun suasana belajar yang menarik serta mengoptimalkan proses demi hasil belajar menulis narasi siswa yang lebih baik. Maka penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh penggunaan media komik digital, mendeskripsikan pengaruh penggunaan media gambar berseri, serta untuk mendeskripsikan perbedaan pengaruh penggunaan media komik digital dan penggunaan media gambar berseri terhadap keterampilan menulis narasi siswa kelas VII di SMPN 20 Kota Serang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen desain pretest-posttest control group design. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik simple random sampling yang memunculkan kelas VII D sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII B sebagai kelas kontrol. Data yang diperoleh berupa hasil tes menulis narasi dari pretest-posttest melalui perhitungan statistik dengan bantuan SPSS versi 25. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan uji t-. Hasil uji T- menunjukkan Media komik digital berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan menulis narasi siswa kelas VII SMPN 20 Kota Serang. Hal tersebut dapat dibuktikan dengan nilai Sig. (2-tailed) dari hasil data tes awal (pretest) dan tes akhir (posttest) kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,000. Nilai tersebut lebih kecil dari kriteria pengujian hipotesis yakni < 0,05 artinya (0,000 < 0,05) sehingga kriteria pengujian menunjukkan Ha diterima dan H0 ditolak. Media gambar berseri berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan menulis narasi siswa kelas VII SMPN 20 Kota Serang. Hal tersebut dapat dibuktikan dengan nilai Sig. (2-tailed) dari hasil data tes awal (pretest) dan tes akhir (posttest) kelas kontrol sebesar 0,000. Nilai tersebut lebih kecil dari kriteria pengujian hipotesis yakni < 0,05 artinya (0,000 < 0,05) sehingga kriteria pengujian menunjukkan Ha diterima dan H0 ditolak. Terdapat perbedaan antara media komik digital dan media gambar berseri terhadap keterampilan menulis narasi siswa kelas VII SMPN 20 Kota Serang. Hal tersebut dapat dibuktikan berdasarkan hasil pengujian hipotesis sampel independen penelitian ini nilai Sig. (2-tailed) pada equal variances assumed data hasil posttest kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol sebesar 0,000.
