Abstract

The province of Banten has the highest rate of open unemployment in Indonesia, with a significant proportion of the unemployed population being college graduates. Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University is an institution of higher education that annually produces graduates from a variety of faculties and study programs. A tracer study conducted by Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University from 2021 to 2024 revealed significant fluctuations in the status of alumni, particularly among the job seeker category. These findings suggest that a considerable proportion of graduates have not been successfully integrated into the labor force. Work readiness is an essential attribute for students to possess, as it fosters a sense of competitiveness and enables them to align themselves with individuals who possess superior abilities. The objective of this study is to ascertain the impact of hard skills, soft skills, and internship experience on the work readiness of final year students at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. The methodology employed in this study is a quantitative approach, utilizing the Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis technique. The findings indicated that soft skills exhibited a substantial and statistically significant impact on work readiness, with a path coefficient value of 0.581. This was followed by internship experience, which demonstrated a 0.355 coefficient, and hard skills, which exhibited a 0.202 coefficient. Notably, both internship experience and hard skills demonstrated positive and statistically significant effects. The R-Square value of work readiness, which is 0.719, indicates that 71.9% of the work readiness variable can be explained by these three variables. This research is expected to contribute to the development of learning strategies in higher education institutions and promote student engagement in acquiring skills and experience to prepare them for entry into the workforce.

Additional Information: Provinsi Banten menempati urutan tertinggi tingkat pengangguran terbuka di Indonesia yang sebagian besar berasal dari lulusan perguruan tinggi. Salah satu perguruan tinggi yang setiap tahunnya menghasilkan lulusan dari berbagai macam fakultas dan program studi adalah Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Berdasarkan tracer study Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa tahun 2021–2024, tercatat fluktuasi signifikan pada status alumni khususnya pada kategori pencari kerja yang menunjukkan masih banyak lulusan belum terserap di dunia kerja. Kesiapan kerja perlu untuk dimiliki mahasiswa karena menjadikan mahasiswa memiliki daya saing yang kuat agar dapat menyejajarkan diri dengan orang lain yang memiliki kemampuan lebih baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh hard skill, soft skill, dan pengalaman magang terhadap kesiapan kerja mahasiswa tingkat akhir Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan teknik analisis Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa soft skill berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kesiapan kerja dengan nilai path coefficient sebesar 0,581, diikuti oleh pengalaman magang sebesar 0,355 dan hard skill sebesar 0,202 yang juga berpengaruh positif dan signifikan. Nilai R-Square kesiapan kerja sebesar 0,719 menunjukkan bahwa 71,9% variabel kesiapan kerja dapat dijelaskan oleh ketiga variabel tersebut. Penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi masukkan bagi perguruan tinggi dalam menyusun strategi pembelajaran, serta mendorong mahasiswa untuk lebih aktif mengembangkan keterampilan dan pengalaman sebagai bekal memasuki dunia kerja.
