Abstract
K-Pop music can influence the emotions and behavior of fans through its lyrics and musical elements. These songs contain denotative and connotative meanings that resonate emotionally and culturally with listeners. This study aims to understand the denotative and connotative meanings of song lyrics, as well as how emotional and behavioral responses emerge as a result of K-Pop fans’ interpretation of the lyrics, particularly among fans in the Banten region, specifically in Serang and Cilegon. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and literature studies. The subjects are K-Pop fans in Serang and Cilegon, focusing on the semiotic interpretation of lyrics and emotional responses expressed through cognitive and behavioral changes influenced by K-Pop songs. K-Pop lyrics contain profound meanings that evoke emotions such as longing, enthusiasm, hope, and self-confidence. Songs like Spring Day, Boom, Hello Future, and Wannabe have a significant impact on fans. They express the meaning of the songs through cognitive emotional responses and behavioral changes such as imitation and identity expression, making music a vital medium in their social and emotional lives. K-Pop songs shape complex emotional responses and significantly influence fan behavior. Through Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis, it is found that lyrics play a role in shaping identity, selfexpression, and social behavior. K-Pop music functions not merely as entertainment but as a medium for self-meaning and the creation of strong emotional connections.
