Abstract
Wide threshold are important as measuring structures because they enable accurate measurement of river flow rates under various flow conditions. With their flat and wide design, these structures are able to represent natural flow, making them suitable for long-term monitoring and water resource planning. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in weir shape, weir height, and flow rate on flow characteristics under perfect drop conditions. The study was conducted at the Integrated Laboratory Flume of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University in Sindangsari using a physical model of a wide weir. Based on the study, it was found that variations in weir shape (right-angled, curved-right- angled, curved-curved, and curved-curved) caused a decrease in water surface elevation upstream-downstream, a decrease in flow velocity upstream-downstream, and subcritical flow type upstream while supercritical downstream. As the threshold height increases, water surface elevation upstream increases, flow velocity upstream decreases, water surface elevation downstream decreases, flow velocity downstream increases, flow type upstream becomes subcritical, and flow type downstream becomes supercritical. Increased flow causes an increase in water level elevation upstream and downstream, increased velocity upstream and downstream, subcritical flow type upstream, and supercritical flow type downstream.
