Abstract

This research is motivated by the issues faced by hearing-impaired students who experience auditory barriers, leading to imperfect language skills, particularly in mastering sentence structure (SVO). Therefore, a teaching method is needed in the learning process that can help students improve their mastery of sentence structure (SVO). This study aims to determine the effect of the Maternal Reflective Method (MRM) on the improvement of sentence structure mastery (SVO) in hearing-impaired students. The type of research used is single subject research (SSR). The design used in this study is the A-B-A design. The research subject is a ninth-grade student at SMPKH in SKh Negeri 01 Cilegon City who experiences hearing impairment, which affects their language skills, particularly in mastering sentence structure (SPOK). Data were collected through observation and analysis. Based on the research results, students received an average presentation or average level at the initial condition or baseline 1 (A1) with a result of 31.4%, where this phase represents the natural condition of the students. Then, in the intervention phase (B), students were given an intervention or treatment using the Maternal Reflective Method (MRM) with a score of 86.9%, and at the final condition or baseline 2 (A2), they obtained a score of 75.65%. The percentage of data overlap in the intervention phase (B) was 0%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of the Maternal Reflective Method (MRM) can improve the mastery of sentence structure (SPOK) among hearing-impaired students in the 9th grade at SMPKH in SKh Negeri 01 Kota Cilegon.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya permasalahan pada siswa tunarungu yang mengalami hambatan dalam pendengarannya, sehingga menyebabkan kemampuan bahasa siswa menjadi tidak sempurna terutama dalam menguasai struktur kalimat (SPOK). Oleh karena itu dalam proses pembelajarannya diperlukan metode pembelajaran yang dapat membantu siswa dalam meningkatkan penguasaan struktur kalimat (SPOK). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode maternal reflektif (MMR) terhadap peningkatan penguasaan struktur kalimat (SPOK) pada siswa tunarungu. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian single subject research (SSR). Desain yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah desain A-B-A. Subjek penelitian yaitu seorang siswa kelas IX SMPKH di SKh Negeri 01 Kota Cilegon yang mengalami hambatan dalam pendengarannya sehingga mempengaruhi dalam bahasanya, terutama penguasaan struktur kalimat (SPOK). Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan analisis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, siswa menerima presentasi rata-rata atau level rata-rata pada kondisi awal atau baseline 1 (A1) memperoleh hasil 31,4% dimana fase ini merupakan kondisi alamiah siswa, kemudian pada fase intervensi (B) siswa diberikan intervensi atau perlakuan berupa penggunaan metode maternal reflektif (MMR) dengan memperoleh nilai sebesar 86,9% dan pada kondisi akhir atau baseline 2 (A2) memperoleh nilai sebesar 75,65%. Persentase data overlap pada fase intervensi (B) yaitu 0%. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan penggunaan metode maternal reflektif (MMR) dapat meningkatkan penguasaan struktur kalimat (SPOK) siswa tunarungu kelas IX SMPKH di SKh Negeri 01 Kota Cilegon.
