Abstract

The reading journal is a medium that can be used by students in reading literacy activities to summarize the contents of the readings in the books, thus the reading journal can enhance students' reading comprehension. The journal media is based on the local wisdom of Serang, where the researcher took reading texts related to historical places located in the City/District of Serang. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to understand the development, improvement, and feasibility of the reading journal media based on the local wisdom of Serang. This research uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) to produce a reading journal media based on the local wisdom of Serang to improve the reading comprehension of fourth-grade students in elementary school. The technique for data validity used feasibility testing by language, material, and media experts, product trials to obtain student responses, and N-gain testing to determine the improvement of students' reading comprehension through pretest and posttest questions. The results of this study indicate that the feasibility test obtained an average score of 84.18% with the category 'Very Feasible'. The response from 41 students resulted in an average score of 93%, indicating that the local wisdom-based reading journal media from Serang was very well received by the students. Furthermore, the N-gain test showed an improvement in students' reading comprehension of 76% with the category 'High'.

Additional Information: Jurnal membaca merupakan sebuah media yang dapat digunakan peserta didik dalam kegiatan literasi baca untuk meringkas kembali isi bacaan yang ada pada buku bacaan, sehingga jurnal membaca dapat meningkatkan pemahaman bacaan peserta didik. Media jurnal berbasis kearifan lokal Serang di mana peneliti mengambil teks bacaan yang berhubungan dengan tempat bersejarah yang terletak di Kota/Kabupaten Serang. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengembangan, peningkatan, dan kelayakan media jurnal membaca berbasis kearifan lokal Serang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Research and Develpoment (R&D) dengan model ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) untuk menghasilkan media jurnal membaca berbasis kearifan lokal Serang untuk meningkatkan pemahaman bacaan peserta didik kelas IV di sekolah dasar. Teknik keabsahan data menggunakan Uji kelayakan oleh validasi ahli bahasa, materi, dan media, uji coba produk untuk mendapatkan respon peserta didik, dan uji N-gain untuk mengetahui peningkatan pemahaman bacaan peserta didik melalui soal pretest dan posttest. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu uji kelayakan memperoleh rata-rata sebesar 84,18% dengan kategori “Sangat Layak”. Respon peserta didik sebanyak 41 peserta didik mendapatkan rata-rata skor sebanyak 93% mengindikasikan bahwa media jurnal membaca berbasis kearifan lokal Serang diterima dengan sangat baik oleh peserta didik. Lalu pada uji N-gain menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman bacaan peserta didik sebesar 76% dengan kategori “Tinggi”.
