Abstract

In today's education, literacy skills are given great attention. The Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek) launched the School Literacy Movement (GLS) program as an effort to increase reading interest and incorporate literacy into every lesson undertaken by students. One of the activities in the School Literacy Movement program is the reading journal activity. This research aims to describe the reading journal activity in the School Literacy Movement (GLS) as a means of developing students' reading literacy skills. The focus of this research begins with the planning, implementation, and outcomes of the reading journal activities in the fifth grade at SDN Tanah Tinggi 1, Tangerang City. The research method uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, involving several participants including the Principal, the 5th Grade A Teacher, the 5th Grade B Teacher, and the 5th Grade students as primary data sources. This research was conducted at SDN Tanah Tinggi 1 Kota Tangerang, located at Jl. Daan Mogot No.1/13, Tanah Tinggi Village, Tangerang District, Tangerang City, Banten Province. The research was conducted from November 2024 to July 2025. Data collection techniques used interviews, observations, and documentation. The research results show that in the planning process of the reading journal activities at SDN Tanah Tinggi 1, it was carried out systematically through needs identification, goal setting, and teacher training. Meanwhile, the implementation of the reading journal activities includes three main stages: pre-reading, reading, and post-reading. The research results also indicate that the application of the reading journal has a positive impact on the literacy skills of fifth-grade students at SDN Tanah Tinggi 1, namely in building reading habits, improving comprehension of reading materials, and honing reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.

Additional Information: Dalam pendidikan saat ini keterampilan literasi menjadi hal yang sangat diperhatikan. Menteri Pendidikan Kebudayaan Riset dan Teknologi (Mendikbudristek) mengeluarkan program Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS) yang sebagai upaya dari meningkatkan minat baca dan menghadirkan literasi disetiap pembelajaran yang dilakukan peserta didik. Salah satu kegiatan yang ada pada program Gerakan Literasi Sekolah adalah kegiatan jurnal baca. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kegiatan jurnal baca pada Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS) sebagai sarana keterampilan literasi baca peserta didik. Fokus dari penelitian ini dimulai dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan hasil dari penerapan kegiatan jurnal baca di kelas V SDN Tanah Tinggi 1 Kota Tangerang. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif, yang melibatkan beberapa partisipan yaitu Kepala Sekolah, Guru Kelas V A dan Guru Kelas V B serta peserta didik kelas V sebagai sumber data primer. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SDN Tanah Tinggi 1 Kota Tangerang yang beralamat di Jl. Daan Mogot No.1/13 Kelurahan Tanah Tinggi, Kecamatan Tangerang, Kota Tangerang, Provinsi Banten. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan November 2024 sampai dengan bulan Juli 2025. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada proses perencanaan kegiatan jurnal baca di SDN Tanah Tinggi 1, dilakukan secara sistematis melalui identifikasi kebutuhan, penetapan tujuan, hingga pelatihan guru. Sedangkan, pelaksanaan kegiatan jurnal baca mencakup tiga tahapan utama yaitu pra-baca, membaca, dan pasca-baca. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa dari penerapan jurnal baca memberikan dampak positif terhadap kemampuan literasi peserta didik kelas V SDN Tanah Tinggi 1, yaitu dalam membangun kebiasaan membaca, meningkatkan pemahaman isi bacaan, serta mengasah keterampilan baca tulis dan berpikir kritis.
