Abstract
This study was conducted with the aim of observing how teachers teach speaking using literature circles. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method, specifically a qualitative case study. In this study, researcher used observation, questionnaire with open-ended questions, and interview with open-ended questions to collect data. This study was conducted at SMPN 4 Cikarang Selatan with eighth grade students as research subjects. Researcher found findings on the way teacher’s teaching speaking and the teacher’s perspective before and after using literature circle. Teacher’s teach speaking by explaining the material to be done. Teacher also exemplify how to speak well and correctly. The teacher's perspective of the literature circle method for teaching speaking is that some students become more confident and can speak English better. From the results of the questionnaire given to students, their views on the use of literature circles vary. There are students who feel more confident in speaking English after using literature circles in class, but there are also students who are still hesitant to speak English.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengamati bagaimana guru mengajar keterampilan berbicara menggunakan literature circles. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif, khususnya studi kasus kualitatif. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan observasi, angket dengan pertanyaan terbuka, dan wawancara dengan pertanyaan terbuka untuk mengumpulkan data. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMPN 4 Cikarang Selatan dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas VIII. Peneliti menemukan temuan terkait cara guru mengajar berbicara serta pandangan guru sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan literature circle. Guru mengajar berbicara dengan menjelaskan materi yang akan dikerjakan. Guru juga memberi contoh bagaimana berbicara dengan baik dan benar. Pandangan guru terhadap metode literature circle untuk mengajar berbicara adalah bahwa beberapa siswa menjadi lebih percaya diri dan dapat berbicara bahasa Inggris dengan lebih baik. Dari hasil angket yang diberikan kepada siswa, pandangan mereka tentang penggunaan literature circles beragam. Ada siswa yang merasa lebih percaya diri berbicara bahasa Inggris setelah menggunakan literature circles di kelas, tetapi ada juga siswa yang masih ragu untuk berbicara bahasa Inggris. | |||||||||
