Abstract

In science education, environmental literacy is one of the essential competencies due to its close relationship with human life and the environment. However, several schools have shown that science learning has not been fully effective in developing this competency. One solution that can be implemented is the provision of learning media that integrates the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model with the domain of environmental literacy, such as a website. This study aims to describe the level of validity and analyze students' responses to CTL-based website learning media on environmental issues material, intended to develop environmental literacy among junior high school students. The method used is Research and Development (R&D), referring to the model proposed by Thiagarajan et al. (1974), modified according to the researcher’s capabilities and needs through three stages: define, design, and develop. The instruments used consisted of validation instruments assessed by two content experts, a media expert, and a junior high school science teacher practitioner, as well as a student response questionnaire. Before being used, the instruments were first validated by an instrument expert (judgment). The research results showed that the content experts gave a score of 93.30%, the media expert 91.96%, and the science teacher 90.87%, categorizing the validation results as very valid. Student responses reached a percentage of 90.14%, categorized as very good. Therefore, the CTL-based website learning media on environmental issues has been validated by experts and is thus beneficial for ninth-grade junior high school students as a learning medium to foster environmental literacy.

Additional Information: Dalam pembelajaran IPA, literasi lingkungan merupakan salah satu kompetensi penting karena erat kaitannya dengan kehidupan manusia dan lingkungan. Namun, beberapa sekolah menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran IPA belum sepenuhnya efektif dalam melatih kemampuan tersebut. Salah satu solusi yang dapat diterapkan adalah menyediakan media pembelajaran yang mengintegrasikan model CTL dan domain literasi lingkungan, seperti website. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan tingkat kevalidan dan menganalisis respon siswa terhadap media pembelajaran website berbasis CTL pada materi isu-isu lingkungan untuk melatih literasi lingkungan siswa SMP. Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan mengacu pada Thiagarahajan dkk., (1974), dimodifikasi sesuai kemampuan dan kebutuhan peneliti pada tiga tahap: define, design, dan develop. Instrumen yang digunakan terdiri dari instrumen validasi yang dinilai oleh dua validator ahli materi, validator ahli media, dan praktisi guru IPA SMP, serta angket respon siswa. Sebelum digunakan, instrumen divalidasi terlebih dahulu oleh ahli instrumen (judgement). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ahli materi memberikan persentase 93,30%, validator media 91,96%, dan guru IPA 90,87%, hasil validasi memperoleh kategori sangat valid. Respon siswa memperoleh persentase 90,14% dengan kategori sangat baik. Dengan demikian, media pembelajaran website berbasis CTL pada materi isu lingkungan telah tervalidasi ahli sehingga bermanfaat pada siswa kelas 9 SMP sebagai media pembelajaran dalam melatih literasi lingkungan
