Abstract
The social media team of Harian Kompas launched the hashtag #MudaMemilih on Instagram @kompasmuda as a means of political education for young people ahead of the 2024 Regional Election. This campaign aims to provide relevant references so that the younger generation can make the right political choices. This is important considering that the Chief of Police emphasized that hoaxes are the biggest threat to the 2024 Regional Election due to the massive spread of disinformation on social media. This study aims to determine the gatekeeping process of the #MudaMemilih campaign carried out by the Harian Kompas social media team. The approach used is a qualitative case study with Julian Wallace's contemporary gatekeeping model as a basis. Data collection techniques include content observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the gatekeeping process takes place in three stages: first, the input stage, namely the selection of relevant campaign issues; second, the selection stage, namely filtering issues to suit the interests of young voters; and third, the output stage, in the form of presenting interesting and informative content. This process is in line with Wallace's model which divides gatekeeping into access, selection, and publication of information. In conclusion, gatekeeping plays an important role in maintaining the quality and accuracy of political information on social media, as well as ensuring that the content presented is appropriate, relevant, and meets journalism standards for young voters.

Kampanye ini bertujuan memberikan referensi yang relevan agar generasi muda dapat menentukan pilihan politik secara tepat. Hal ini menjadi penting mengingat Kapolri menegaskan bahwa hoaks merupakan ancaman terbesar pada Pilkada 2024 akibat masifnya penyebaran disinformasi di media sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui proses gatekeeping kampanye #MudaMemilih yang dilakukan tim media sosial Harian Kompas. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif studi kasus dengan model gatekeeping kontemporer Julian Wallace sebagai landasan. Teknik pengumpulan data mencakup observasi konten, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses gatekeeping berlangsung dalam tiga tahap: pertama, tahap input yaitu pemilihan isu kampanye yang relevan; kedua, tahap seleksi, yakni penyaringan isu agar sesuai dengan minat pemilih muda; dan ketiga, tahap output, berupa penyajian konten yang menarik dan informatif. Proses ini selaras dengan model Wallace yang membagi gatekeeping menjadi akses, seleksi, dan publikasi informasi. Kesimpulannya, gatekeeping berperan penting dalam menjaga kualitas dan akurasi informasi politik di media sosial, serta memastikan konten yang disajikan layak, relevan, dan sesuai standar jurnalisme untuk pemilih muda. | ||||||
