Abstract

This research was designed qualitatively. This research aims to find out the types of questions that teachers use in English learning in grade 8 of SMPN 20 Serang. The subjects in this study were English teacher and 8th grade students of SMPN 20 Serang. Data collection techniques that researcher used are observation and interview. The instruments of this research are observation sheet, interview guideline, and audio recording. The researcher used miles and Huberman theory to analyze the data, namely data reduction, data display, drawing conclusion, and verification. The results of this study based on Bloom's taxonomy revised, the type of question that teacher often used in learning English is remembering question. Remembering question is one of the questions that fall into the category of lower-level questions along with understanding question and applying question. Low-level questions have an impact on students' Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS).

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dirancang secara kualitatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis pertanyaan yang digunakan oleh guru dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di kelas 8 SMPN 20 Serang. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah guru Bahasa Inggris dan siswa kelas 8 SMPN 20 Serang. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan oleh peneliti adalah observasi dan wawancara. Instrumen penelitian ini meliputi lembar observasi, panduan wawancara, dan rekaman audio. Peneliti menggunakan teori Miles dan Huberman untuk menganalisis data, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, penarikan kesimpulan, dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini berdasarkan taksonomi Bloom yang direvisi, jenis pertanyaan yang sering digunakan guru dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris adalah pertanyaan mengingat. Pertanyaan mengingat merupakan salah satu pertanyaan yang termasuk dalam kategori pertanyaan tingkat rendah bersama dengan pertanyaan pemahaman dan pertanyaan penerapan. Pertanyaan tingkat rendah berdampak pada keterampilan berpikir tingkat rendah (LOTS) siswa.
