Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of life design career group counseling in enhancing the career adaptability of high school students. It is motivated by the various career challenges faced by high school students in the current era, such as the phenomenon of choosing the wrong major, high rates of youth unemployment, technological disruption, and the threat of artificial intelligence (AI) automation changing the job landscape. To face these challenges, career adaptability has become an essential skill. This study examines the level of students' career adaptability before and after the treatment and compares the effectiveness of life design career group counseling with the intervention provided to the control group. The method used is a quasi-experimental with a pretest posttest control group design. The research subjects were 14 11th-grade students with low career adaptability levels, identified through the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale (CAAS). The subjects were divided into an experimental group (6 students) who received life design career group counseling and a control group (8 students) who received group guidance. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon Test, N-Gain Test, and the Mann-Whitney U Test. The results showed a significant increase in career adaptability in both groups post-intervention, as evidenced by the Wilcoxon Test results (p<0.05) for each group. However, the N-Gain analysis revealed a substantial difference in effectiveness; the experimental group achieved an average gain of 0.75 (high category), whereas the control group only reached 0.37 (medium category). The Mann-Whitney U Test results confirmed that the difference in posttest scores between the experimental and control groups was highly significant (p<0.05). Thus, it is concluded that life design career group counseling is effective in enhancing the career adaptability of 11th-grade students at SMAN 1 Maja.

Additional Information: Studi ini bertujuan menguji efektivitas konseling kelompok karier life design untuk meningkatkan adaptabilitas karier siswa SMA. Dilatarbelakangi oleh berbagai macam tantangan karier yang akan dihadapi siswa SMA di era sekarang, seperti fenomena salah jurusan, tingginya angka pengangguran usia muda, disrupsi teknologi, hingga ancaman otomatisasi kecerdasan buatan (AI) yang mengubah lanskap pekerjaan. Adaptabilitas karier menjadi keterampilan yang sangat dibutuhkan untuk dapat menghadapi berbagai tantangan tersebut. Metode yang digunakan yaitu kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest control group. Subjek penelitian yaitu 14 siswa kelas XI yang memiliki tingkat adaptabilitas karier rendah berdasarkan hasil Career Adapt-Abilities Scale (CAAS). Subjek dibagi menjadi kelompok eksperimen (6 siswa) yang menerima konseling kelompok karier life design dan kelompok kontrol (8 siswa) yang menerima treatment lain. Analisa data menggunakan Uji Wilcoxon, Uji N-Gain, dan Uji Mann-Whitney U. hasil ujji wilcoxon P value < 0,05 untuk kedua kelompok menandakan kenaikan yang signifikan. Namun, analisis N-Gain menunjukkan perbedaan efektivitas yang besar, di mana kelompok eksperimen mencapai peningkatan rata-rata sebesar 0,75 (kategori tinggi), sedangkan kelompok kontrol hanya mencapai 0,37 (kategori sedang). Hasil Uji Mann Whitney U mengonfirmasi bahwa perbedaan skor posttest antara kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol sangat signifikan (p < 0,05). Dengan demikian, disimpulkan bahwa konseling kelompok karier life design terbukti efektif untuk meningkatkan adaptabilitas karier siswa kelas XI di SMAN 1 Maja.
