Abstract

“THE USE OF TOTAL PHYSICAL RESPONSE FOR IMPROVING STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY AT THE FIFTH GRADE OF SD NEGERI 02 CIKUPA” (A Classroom Action Research) iii By Muhamad Fauzi Al-iman 0912110 Abstract The aim of this research paper “The use of Total Physical Response for improving students’ vocabulary at 5th grade of SD Negeri 02 Cikupa (A Classroom Action Research).” focus of the teaching learning is based on the problem occurred at the VA class of SD Negeri 02 Cikupa which consisted 38 students: the main problems are students faced difficulties to memorize the vocabulary, the students can not pronunce the vocabulary well and the teachis uses the classic method. The objectives of this research were to find out the process to teaching students’ vocabulary by using TPR and to find out the result to improving students’ vocabulary by using TPRat the 5th grade of SD Negeri 02 Cikupa.The research methodology was qualitative research implementing the action research by using Kemmis and McTaggart model (1996). Action research was supported by the data, in this case the result of the students’ test. The main of qualitative was to search information and asses a situation in the classroom and quantitative research supports qualitative data. The instruments used in data collecting are test and observation. The result of this study is found that TPR had given improvement to students’ vocabulary. The result showed that in pre-test, the average score of students is 38.02. Meanwhile, the average of students score was increase to 70.52on cycle 1 and 81.84 on cycle 2. This means that TPR has been able to improve the students’ vocabulary. Keywords: Vocabulary, Action Research, Tpr.
