Abstract

This study analyzes the factors influencing carbon emissions in ten Newly Industrialized Countries (NICs) over the period 2007–2021. The independent variables used include GDP per capita, renewable energy consumption, energy intensity, urbanization, average years of schooling, and population growth. The analysis method employed is static panel data regression, with the best-fitting model identified as the Fixed Effect Model using Driscoll-Kraay Standard Error (FEM-DKSE) to address heteroskedasticity and autocorrelation issues. The results show that GDP per capita, energy intensity, urbanization, and population growth have a positive and significant effect on carbon emissions, while renewable energy consumption and average years of schooling have a negative and significant effect. Simultaneously, all variables significantly influence carbon emissions. These findings highlight the importance of clean energy transition and improvements in education quality as key strategies for sustainable carbon emission control.
