Abstract
This study aims to explain the empowerment carried out by the Class IIA Jakarta Women's Prison in implementing empowerment in its prison. Empowerment is a goal and a method, empowerment is said to be a method is various activities in supporting the empowerment of a weak group in society, while empowerment is a goal that is aimed at the development/conditions of social change (Suharto, 2009). Economics is often the reason someone commits a crime. Economics is generally defined as something that studies human behavior in using scarce resources to produce goods and services needed by humans (Suharto, 2005). The empowerment carried out by the Class IIA Jakarta Women's Prison is by providing guidance to its inmates, so that female inmates who have been released from detention can improve their abilities by developing their potential and can help their economy. This writing uses the Empowerment Theory according to Edi Suharto, with indicators of development, resources, motivation and self-awareness. The research method used is a qualitative research method with a case study approach by Creswell. The results of the study and its conclusion are that the Class IIA Jakarta Women's Prison is able to implement empowerment of its inmates. Although there are various obstacles or barriers, the prison is able to handle it well. The Class IIA Jakarta Women's Prison must also fix the obstacles that occur in the empowerment process, so that the empowerment can continue to run well.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan pemberdayaan yang dilakukan oleh Lapas Perempuan Kelas IIA Jakarta dalam melaksanakan pemberdayaan didalam lapasnya. Pemberdayaan merupakan tujuan dan cara, pemberdayaan dikatakan suatu cara adalah berbagai kegiatan aktivitas dalam mendukung keberdayaan suatu kelompok yang lemah pada masyarakat, sedangkan pemberdayaan adalah tujuan ialah tertuju dalam perkembangan/kondisi perubahan sosial (Suharto, 2009). Ekonomi sering menjadi alasan seseorang melakukan tindakan kriminal. Ekonomi secara umum diartikan sebagai hal yang mempelajari perilaku manusia dalam menggunakan sumberdaya yang langka untuk memproduksi barang dan jasa yang dibutuhkan manusia (Suharto, 2005). Pemberdayaan yang dilakukan oleh Lapas Perempuan Kelas IIA Jakarta yaitu dengan melakukan pembinaan terhadap warga binaannya, agar warga binaan perempuan yang telah keluar dari masa penahanan dapat meningkatkan kemampuannya dengan cara mengembangkan potensinya serta dapat membantu perekonomiannya. Penulisan ini menggunakan Teori Pemberdayaan menurut Edi Suharto, dengan indikatornya pembangunan, sumberdaya, motivasi dan kesadaran diri. Metode penelitian yang dipakai yakni metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus karya Creswell. Hasil penelitian dan kesimpulannya adalah Lapas Perempuan Kelas IIA Jakarta mampu melaksanakan pemberdayaan terhadap warga binaannya. Walaupun terdapat berbagai macam kendala atau hambatan, lapas mampu menangani itu dengan baik. Lapas Perempuan Kelas IIA Jakarta juga harus memperbaiki kendala yang terjadi dalam proses pemberdayaan, agar pemberdayaan tersebut bisa terus berjalan dengan baik. | ||||||
