Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of utilizing Bioinformatics tools through Computational Inquiry based Teaching (CIbT) on students' digital literacy and concept understanding of genetics concepts at the Senior High School (SMA) level. This study used the Quasi Experiment method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research population was all XII MIPA students of SMAN 2 Tangerang in the academic year 2024/2025 with XII 6 as the experimental class and XII 4 as the control class. Data collection techniques in this study used non-tests in the form of questionnaires to measure students' digital literacy skills and tests in the form of essay questions to measure students' concept understanding. The average value of digital literacy skills of experimental class students is 83.67 with a high category and the control class is 77.67 with a high category. The average value of students' concept understanding of the experimental class is 86.16 with a very high category and the control class is 74.04 with a high category. Hypothesis data analysis techniques using the Mann-Whitney test for digital literacy and understanding of student concepts. The results of hypothesis testing on student digital literacy obtained a p-value of 0.004 (<0.05) and hypothesis testing on student concept understanding obtained a p-value of <0.001 (<0.05). This result shows that the integration of Bioinformatics tools through CIbT in the experimental class contributes to the achievement of digital literacy and understanding of student concepts compared to the control class. This shows that there is an influence of Bioinformatics tools through CIbT on digital literacy and concept understanding of high school students on genetics material.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemanfaatan Bioinformatics tools melalui Computational Inquiry based Teaching (CIbT) terhadap literasi digital dan pemahaman konsep siswa pada konsep genetika di tingkat Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA). Sementara nilai rata- rata pemahaman konsep siswa kelas eksperimen yaitu 86,16 dengan kategori sangat tinggi dan kelas kontrol yaitu 74,04 dengan kategori tinggi. Teknik analisis data hipotesis menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney untuk literasi digital dan pemahaman konsep siswa. Hasil uji hipotesis terhadap literasi digital siswa diperoleh nilai p-value 0,004 (< 0,05) dan uji hipotesis pada pemahaman konsep siswa diperoleh nilai p-value <0,001 (< 0,05). Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa integrasi Bioinformatics tools melalui CIbT di kelas eksperimen berkontribusi terhadap capaian literasi digital dan pemahaman konsep siswa dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh Bioinformatics tools melalui CIbT terhadap literasi digital dan pemahaman konsep siswa SMA pada materi genetika.
