Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of profitability on firm value, with capital structure as a mediator and firm size as a moderator. The data includes pharmaceutical companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in the period 2018-2023. The analysis uses the hierarchical modeling method with a moderated mediation analysis approach. The results of the study indicate that profitability (ROE) does not have a direct effect on firm value (PBV), capital structure (DER) also affects firm value (PBV), while profitability (ROE) has a negative effect on capital structure (DER). Capital structure is proven to be a significant mediator in the relationship between profitability and firm value, while firm size is not proven to moderate the relationship between profitability and firm value, but moderates the relationship between capital structure and firm value. This study also shows that there is a mediation effect moderated by company size in relation to the relationship between profitability and company value mediated by capital structure The implications of this study emphasize that companies must be able to optimize profitability along with capital structure and business scale, use profits to reduce dependence on debt and review expansion strategies based on asset growth

Penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh profitabilitas terhadap nilai perusahaan, dengan struktur modal sebagai mediator dan ukuran perusahaan sebagai moderator. Data mencakup perusahaan farmasi yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) pada periode 2018-2023. Analisis menggunakan metode hierarchical modeling dengan pendekatan moderated mediation analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa profitabilitas (ROE) tidak berpengaruh langsung terhadap nilai perusahaan (PBV), struktur modal (DER) juga berpengaruh terhadap nilai perusahaan (PBV), sedangkan profitabilitas (ROE) berpengaruh negatif terhadap struktur modal (DER). Struktur modal terbukti sebagai mediator signifikan dalam hubungan antara profitabilitas terhadap nilai perusahaan, sementara ukuran perusahaan tidak terbukti dapat memoderasi hubungan profitabilitas terhadap nilai perusahaan, tetapi memoderasi hubungan struktur modal terhadap nilai perusahaan. Penelitian ini juga menunjukan bahwa adanya efek mediasi yang dimoderasi oleh ukuran perusahaan kaitannya hubungan antara profitabilitas terhadap nilai perusahaan yang mediasi oleh struktur modal Implikasi penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa perusahaan harus mampu mengoptimalkan profitabilitas bersamaan dengan struktur modal dan skala usaha, menggunakan laba untuk mengurangi ketergantungan pada utang dan meninjau ulang strategi ekspansi berdasarkan pertumbuhan aset
