Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of group guidance services using game techniques in an outdoor learning setting on improving students’ interpersonal communication skills. The method used was quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 20 seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Labuan, divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected using an interpersonal communication questionnaire and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that the experimental group experienced an improvement with an average N-Gain score of 0.71 (high category), while the control group scored 0.44 (moderate category). The Mann-Whitney test produced an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.001 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. Therefore, group guidance services using game techniques in an outdoor learning setting have a significant effect on improving students’ interpersonal communication skills.
