Abstract

Ginger production in Serang City experienced considerable fluctuations, accompanied by low productivity and relatively small land sizes. These conditions increased the production risks faced by farmers. This study aimed to analyze the factors that influenced ginger production and production risk, as well as to identify the level of production risk in Serang City. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach using both primary and secondary data. The Just and Pope production risk model was applied to analyze the risk factors, and the coefficient of variation (CV) was used to measure the level of risk. Data were collected through snowball sampling from thirty ginger farmers. The results indicated that land area and seed variables significantly affected ginger production, both simultaneously and partially. However, none of the production variables significantly influenced production risk at the 5 percent significance level, although land area showed a significant effect at the 10 percent level. Seeds and fertilizers were identified as risk-reducing factors, while land area and labor tended to increase or had no impact on production risk. A coefficient of variation value of 0.1865 indicated that, in general, ginger farming in Serang City fell into the low production risk category. Nevertheless, individual risk categorization showed that most farmers faced moderate to high production risks, which could lead to uncertainty in harvest outcomes.

Additional Information: Produksi jahe di Kota Serang mengalami fluktuasi yang cukup besar, disertai dengan produktivitas yang rendah dan luas lahan yang relatif kecil. Kondisi ini meningkatkan risiko produksi yang dihadapi oleh petani. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi produksi dan risiko produksi jahe, serta mengidentifikasi tingkat risiko produksi di Kota Serang. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan data primer dan sekunder. Model risiko produksi Just and Pope digunakan untuk menganalisis faktor risiko, dan koefisien variasi (CV) digunakan untuk mengukur tingkat risiko. Data diperoleh melalui metode snowball sampling dari tiga puluh petani jahe. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variabel luas lahan dan bibit berpengaruh signifikan terhadap produksi jahe, baik secara simultan maupun parsial. Namun, tidak ada variabel produksi yang berpengaruh signifikan terhadap risiko produksi pada taraf nyata 5 persen, meskipun luas lahan menunjukkan pengaruh signifikan pada taraf nyata 10 persen. Bibit dan pupuk diidentifikasi sebagai faktor yang dapat mengurangi risiko, sedangkan luas lahan dan tenaga kerja cenderung meningkatkan atau tidak berpengaruh terhadap risiko produksi. Nilai koefisien variasi sebesar 0,1865 menunjukkan bahwa secara umum, usaha tani jahe di Kota Serang berada pada kategori risiko produksi rendah. Namun demikian, sebagian besar petani menghadapi risiko produksi sedang hingga tinggi yang dapat menimbulkan ketidakpastian hasil panen.
