Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of adding Calcium Chloride (CaCl2) concentration levels on the growth and yield of 3 varieties of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) using a wick hydroponic system. The research was conducted from April to June 2024 at the Greenhouse of Kelompok Wanita Tani Andalan (KWT), Serang City, Banten Province. The experiment used a Split Plot Design in a factorial arrangement. The main plot was the Calcium Chloride (CaCl2) concentration with 4 levels: C1 (Without addition of CaCl2), C2 (Addition of 550 ppm CaCl2), C3 (Addition of 650 ppm CaCl2), and C4 (Addition of 750 ppm CaCl2). The sub plot was the lettuce variety with 3 levels: V1 (New Grand Rapids), V2 (Red Romaine), and V3 (Matt Green). The addition of CaCl2 at a concentration of 750 ppm (C4) gave the best results on the parameters of plant height at 14 Day After Planting (DAP) (12.86 cm), stem diameter (5.76 mm), and fresh weight (41.33 g). The Red Romaine variety (V2) gave the best results on the parameters of plant height at 21 DAP (20.63 cm), chlorophyll content (29.68), and fresh weight (39.54 g). There was no interaction between the treatment of adding CaCl2 concentration and the lettuce varieties on all observation parameters.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan tingkat konsentrasi Kalsium Klorida (CaCl2) terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil 3 varietas tanaman selada (Lactuca sativa L.) dengan sistem hidroponik sumbu. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan April sampai Juni 2024 di Greenhouse Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Andalan, Kota Serang, Provinsi Banten. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Petak Terbagi (RPT) yang disusun secara faktorial. Petak utama adalah konsentrasi Kalsium Klorida (CaCl2) dengan 4 taraf: C1 (Tanpa penambahan CaCl2), C2 (Penambahan 550 ppm CaCl2), C3 (Penambahan 650 ppm CaCl2), dan C4 (Penambahan 750 ppm CaCl2). Anak petak adalah varietas selada dengan 3 taraf: V1 (New Grand Rapids), V2 (Red Romaine), dan V3 (Matt Green). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan CaCl2 dengan konsentrasi 750 ppm (C4) memberikan hasil terbaik pada parameter tinggi tanaman umur 14 Hari Setelah Tanam (HST) (12,86 cm), diameter batang (5,76 mm), dan bobot segar (41,33 g). Varietas Red Romaine (V2) memberikan hasil terbaik pada parameter tinggi tanaman umur 21 HST (20,63 cm), kandungan klorofil (29,68), dan bobot segar (39,54 g). Tidak terdapat interaksi antara perlakuan penambahan konsentrasi CaCl2 dan varietas selada terhadap seluruh parameter pengamatan.
