Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between soft skills and the work readiness of industrial mechanical engineering students at SMK Pasundan 2 in Serang City. This study uses a correlational research design with a quantitative approach. The sample used in this study is the 12th grade TMI class with a total of 30 students. The sampling technique used in this study is saturated sampling. The results of the study show that: (1) The softskill of industrial mechanical engineering students at SMK Pasundan 2 in Serang City are in the high category, with a percentage value of 57%. This is derived from high soft skill indicators, including verbal communication, time management, the ability to lead a group, resilience under pressure, problem-solving, and discipline. (2) The work readiness of Industrial Mechanical Engineering students at SMK Pasundan 2 in Serang City is in the high category with a percentage value of 63%. This is indicated by high indicators of logical and objective consideration, critical attitude, environmental adaptation, ambition to advance, alignment with the field of expertise, and the ability to collaborate. (3) Based on the calculation result, the Spearman Rho correlation coefficient value obtained was 0.648, indicating that the relationship between the variables was in the strong category. To the the significance of the relationship, the rs value was converted to a thitung of 4.50. This was then compared to the ttabel value at a significance level of 5% and degrees of freedom (df) = 28, which is 2.048. Since thitung > ttabel (4.50 > 2.048), H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, meaning there is a significant relationship between the two variables. This result is also supported by the significance value (p-value) of 0.000 < 0.05. Thus, there is a positive and significant relationship between softskill and work readiness.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan softskill dengan kesiapan kerja siswa teknik mekanik industri di SMK Pasundan 2 Kota Serang. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian korelasional dengan metode pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah kelas 12 TMI dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 30 siswa. Teknik sampling yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah teknik sampling jenuh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Keterampilan softskill siswa Teknik Mekanik Industri di SMK Pasundan 2 Kota Serang berada pada kategori tinggi dengan nilai persentase sebesar 57%. Hal ini diperoleh dari indikator keterampilan softskill yang tinggi yaitu komunikasi lisan, manajemen waktu, mampu memimpin kelompok, ketahanan menghadapi tekanan, memecahkan masalah, dan disiplin. (2) Kesiapan kerja siswa Teknik Mekanik Indutri di SMK Pasundan 2 Kota Serang berada pada kategori tinggi dengan nilai persentase sebesar 63%. Hal ini ditandai dari tingginya indikator memiliki pertimbangan yang logis dan obyektif, sikap kritis, adaptasi lingkungan, memiliki ambisi untuk maju, kesesuaian dengan bidang keahlian, dan kemampuan untuk bekerja sama. (3) Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan diperoleh nilai koefisien korelasi Spearman Rho sebesar 0,648, yang menunjukkan bahwa hubungan antara variabel berada pada kategori kuat. Untuk menguji signifikansi hubungan, nilai rs dikonversi ke dalam nilai thitung sebesar 4,50. Selanjutnya, dibandingkan dengan nilai ttabel pada taraf signifikansi 5% dan derajat kebebasan (df) = 28, yaitu sebesar 2,048. Karena thitung > ttabel (4,50 > 2,048), maka H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima, yang berarti terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kedua variabel. Hasil ini juga didukung oleh nilai signifikansi (p-value) sebesar 0,000 < 0,05. Dengan demikian, terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara softskill dengan kesiapan kerja.
