Abstract
This study describes the gender dynamics within the Student Journalism Activity Unit (UKM Jurnalistik) at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, focusing on the inequality of gender roles. The aim of this research is to explore how gender-based role division occurs, the influencing factors, and how such inequality affects female participation and representation within the organization. This research uses a qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation, credibility checks, and confirmability. The theory used in this study is liberal feminism. Informants included active members, core management, and the organizational advisor. The findings indicate an imbalance in role distribution where technical and strategic roles are mostly occupied by male members, while female members are often placed in administrative tasks. Gender stereotypes, patriarchal culture, and organizational structure are identified as key inhibiting factors. On the other hand, individual awareness, internal organizational support, and direct experiences serve as driving factors for change. The study recommends internal evaluation and real implementation of gender equality principles in task distribution and decision-making processes.

Additional Information: | Penelitian ini menggambarkan dinamika gender yang terjadi di Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM) Jurnalistik Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, dengan fokus pada ketidakadilan peran gender di dalamnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis dinamika gender serta ketidakadilan peran gender yang dalam di Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM) Jurnalistik Untirta. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Teknik pemeriksaan keabsahan data dilakukan dengan triangulasi sumber, derajat kepercayaan, dan kepastian. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori feminisme liberal. Informan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari anggota aktif UKM Jurnalistik, pengurus inti, dan pembina organisasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat ketidakadilan peran antara anggota laki-laki dan perempuan, di mana peran teknis dan strategis lebih banyak diisi oleh laki-laki, sementara perempuan lebih dominan di bidang administratif. Stereotip gender, budaya patriarki, dan struktur organisasi menjadi faktor penghambat utama. Sementara itu, kesadaran individu, dukungan internal organisasi, dan pengalaman langsung menjadi faktor pendorong terjadinya perubahan. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pentingnya evaluasi internal organisasi dan penerapan prinsip kesetaraan gender secara nyata dalam pembagian tugas dan pengambilan keputusan. | |||||||||
