Abstract
Catfish (Clarias sp.) is one of the most widely cultivated freshwater fish species in Indonesia. A critical factor influencing the success of catfish aquaculture is the availability of feed, which constitutes approximately 70% of the total production cost. Among various natural feed resources, golden apple snail (Pomacea canaliculata) has emerged as a promising alternative due to its high nutritional value and abundance in the wild. The snail meat was subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis using 2.25% papain enzyme per kilogram of meat to enhance its digestibility for potential use as a sustainable protein source in catfish feed. This research aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of papain enzyme addition to hydrolyzed golden apple snail (Pomacea canaliculata) meat-based natural feed on the growth performance and survival rate of catfish (Clarias sp.). The experiment was conducted for 40 days using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five feeding treatments and three replications. The treatments consisted of a combination of commercial feed and hydrolyzed golden apple snail meat which had been hydrolyzed using 2,25% papain enzyme. A total of 225 catfish with an initial average weight of 3.82 ± 0.67 g were reared in 15 aquaria measuring 60×40×40 cm³ (15 fish per aquarium) and were fed four times a day. Parameters measured included feed consumption, survival rate, feed conversion ratio, feed utilization efficiency, specific growth rate, absolute weight gain, and absolute length growth. The results showed significant differences among treatments. Treatment B (three times commercial feed and once hydrolysate) achieved the highest survival rate (97.78±3.85%), the best feed conversion ratio (1.05±0.02), and the highest feed utilization efficiency (94.94±1.61%). The highest specific growth rate (4.82±0.34%/day) and absolute weight gain (21.30±1.40 g) were obtained in Treatment C (two times commercial feed and two times hydrolysate), while the highest absolute length gain (8.03±0.51 cm) was found in Treatment B. These findings indicate that the combination of commercial feed with hydrolyzed golden apple snail meat significantly improves catfish growth and survival.

Faktor penting yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan budidaya ikan lele adalah ketersediaan pakan, yang mencakup sekitar 70% dari total biaya produksi. Di antara berbagai sumber pakan alami, keong mas (Pomacea canaliculata) muncul sebagai alternatif yang menjanjikan karena nilai gizi yang tinggi dan kelimpahannya di alam liar. Daging keong tersebut diproses melalui hidrolisis enzimatik menggunakan enzim papain 2,25% per kilogram daging untuk meningkatkan daya cerna pakan sebagai sumber protein yang berkelanjutan dalam pakan ikan lele. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas penambahan enzim papain pada daging keong mas (Pomacea canaliculata) yang telah dihidrolisis sebagai pakan alami terhadap performa pertumbuhan dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup ikan lele (Clarias sp.). Percobaan dilakukan selama 40 hari menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan pemberian pakan dan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri dari kombinasi pakan komersial dan daging keong mas yang telah dihidrolisis menggunakan enzim papain 2,25%. Sebanyak 225 ikan lele dengan berat rata-rata awal 3,82 ± 0,67 g dipelihara dalam 15 akuarium berukuran 60×40×40 cm³ (15 ikan per akuarium) dan diberi pakan empat kali sehari. Parameter yang diukur meliputi konsumsi pakan, tingkat kelangsungan hidup, rasio konversi pakan, efisiensi pemanfaatan pakan, laju pertumbuhan spesifik, kenaikan berat mutlak, dan kenaikan panjang mutlak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antar perlakuan. Perlakuan B (tiga kali pakan komersial dan sekali hidrolisat) menghasilkan tingkat kelangsungan hidup tertinggi (97,78±3,85%), rasio konversi pakan terbaik (1,05±0,02), dan efisiensi pemanfaatan pakan tertinggi (94,94±1,61%). Laju pertumbuhan spesifik tertinggi (4,82±0,34%/hari) dan kenaikan berat mutlak tertinggi (21,30±1,40 g) diperoleh pada Perlakuan C (dua kali pakan komersial dan dua kali hidrolisat), sementara kenaikan panjang mutlak tertinggi (8,03±0,51 cm) ditemukan pada Perlakuan B. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi pakan komersial dengan daging keong mas yang dihidrolisis secara signifikan dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup ikan lele. | |||||||||
