Abstract

This study aims to describe students' mathematical connection ability in terms of their level of mathematics anxiety. The research used a quantitative approac with a descriptive method. The subjects of this study were 30 students of grade XI and XII in SMAS Plus Permata Insani Islamic School, selected using purposive sampling. The instruments used were a mathematical connection test and a mathematics anxiety questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including mean, standard deviation, frequency distribution, and percentage. The results showed that most student had a moderate level of mathematical connection ability (76,7%), followed by high (20%) and low (3,3%) categories. Regarding mathematics anxiety, most students were in the moderate category (60%), followed by high (20%) and low (20%). The distibution analysis revealed that students with moderate anxiety generally had moderate mathematical connection abilities. However, there were students with high anxiety who achieved high connection ability and those with low anxiety who had low connection ability, indicaing that the relationship between anxiety and mathematical connection is not strictly linear. Therfore, anxiety at a certain level can still serve as a motivator for studnts to perform better in learning mathematics.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa ditinjau dari tingkat kecemasan matematika. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 30 siswa kelas XI dan XII di SMAS Plus Permata Insani Islamic School yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes uraian koneksi matematis dan angket kecemasan matematika. Data dianalisis dengan teknik statistik deskriptif, yaitu menghitung nilai rata-rata, standar deviasi, distribusi frekuensi, dan persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas siswa memiliki kemampuan koneksi matematis pada kategori sedang (76,7%), diikuti oleh kategori tinggi (20%) dan rendah (3,3%). Sementara itu, tingkat kecemasan matematika siswa didominasi oleh kategori sedang (60%), kemudian kecemasan tinggi (20%) dan rendah (20%). Analisis distribusi menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa dengan tingkat kecemasan sedang memiliki kemampuan koneksi matematis yang sedang pula. Namun, terdapat siswa dengan kecemasan tinggi yang memiliki koneksi tinggi, dan siswa dengan kecemasan rendah namun koneksi rendah, yang mengindikasikan bahwa hubungan antara kecemasan dan koneksi matematis tidak bersifat linier. Oleh karena itu, kecemasan dalam batas tertentu masih dapat menjadi pendorong bagi siswa untuk berusaha lebih baik dalam pembelajaran matematika.
