Abstract

This research is motivated by deaf students who are not yet able to make salted eggs, therefore this research aims to determine effective the direct instruction method is in improving vocational skills in making salted eggs in deaf students. The research method used was quantitative experimental with a One Group Pre-test Post-test design. The subjects of this study were five eighth-grade students at a special needs junior high school (SMPLB). The instrument used to assess the implementation of the Direct Instruction method in enhancing vocational skills in making salted eggs was a performance test in the form of an assessment sheet. The results of the study showed that the average score obtained by the students before the treatment (pre-test) was 0, and after the treatment (post-test), the average score increased to 11. The results of the analysis show a Tcount value of 15. With a significance level of α = 0.05 and a sample size of N = 5, the Ttable value is obtained = 0. Because Tcount > Ttable, the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. This indicates that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results after the treatment is given. The application of the direct instruction method can improve vocational skills in making salted eggs in deaf students at SKh Negeri 01 Kota Serang.

Additional Information: Penelititan ini dilatar belakangi oleh siswa tunarungu yang belum mampu membuat telur asin oleh karena itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektivitasan metode direct instruction dalam meningkatkan keterampilan vokasional membuat telur asin pada siswa tunarungu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif eksperimen dengan menggunakan One Group Pre-test Post-test. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 5 siswa kelas VIII SMPLB. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penerapan metode direct instruction dalam meningkatkan keterampilan vokasional membuat telur asin pada siswa tunarungu adalah tes kinerja berupa lembar penilaian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rata-rata yang diterima siswa sebelum diberikan perlakuan (pre-test) adalah sebesar 0, setelah diberikan perlakuan nilai rata-rata yang diterima oleh siswa (post-test) meningkat menjadi 11. Hasil analisis menunjukkan nilai Thitung = 15. Dengan taraf signifikansi α = 0,05 dan jumlah sampel N = 5, diperoleh nilai Ttabel = 0. Karena Thitung > Ttabel, maka hipotesis nol (Ho) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil pre-test dan post-test setelah diberikannya perlakuan. Penerapan metode direct instruction dapat meningkatkan keterampilan vokasional membuat telur asin pada siswa tunarungu di SKh Negeri 01 Kota Serang.
