Abstract
Bank Indonesia is currently actively promoting regional economic cooperation through Local Currency Settlement (LCS), a collaboration between Indonesia and partner countries to conduct trade and investment payments using local currencies. The objective of this cooperation is to reduce the dependence of Indonesia and its partner countries on the use of the USD in trade and investment activities. Bank Indonesia has implemented this policy to stabilize the exchange rate of the Indonesian Rupiah against the USD. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of Indonesia-Malaysia Local Currency Settlement (LCS) transaction volume, Indonesia-Thailand Local Currency Settlement (LCS) transaction volume, Bank Indonesia's interest rate, inflation, and exports on the Rupiah exchange rate. The data used in this study is secondary monthly data, covering the period from January 2020 to February 2025. The method employed in this research is the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The findings of this study indicate that the Indonesia-Malaysia LCS transaction volume has a negative effect on the Rupiah exchange rate, with a VD contribution of 5.85% at the end of the period; the Indonesia-Thailand LCS transaction volume has a negative effect on the Rupiah exchange rate, with a VD contribution of 1.99% at the end of the period; Bank Indonesia's interest rate has a negative effect on the Rupiah exchange rate, with a VD contribution of 2.68% at the end of the period; inflation has a negative effect on the Rupiah exchange rate, with a VD contribution of 1.82% at the end of the period; and exports have a negative effect on the Rupiah exchange rate, with a VD contribution of 7.28% at the end of the period.
