Abstract
Learning obstacles in the topic of statistics, particularly in indicators of mathematical literacy, are still frequently encountered in the teaching and learning process for Grade VII students in junior high school. This study aims to (1) describe students’ general mathematical literacy skills in statistics, (2) identify the characteristics of learning obstacles in solving mathematical literacy problems in statistics, (3) develop a didactic design for the statistics topic, (4) identify the characteristics of learning obstacles after implementing the didactic design, and (5) analyze the general profile of students' mathematical literacy after the implementation of the didactic design. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Anyar during the 2024/2025 academic year. The study employed the Didactic Design Research (DDR) method, which consists of three stages: prospective analysis, metapedadidactic analysis, and retrospective analysis. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, tests, and documentation. The findings revealed that students experienced epistemological obstacles when learning statistics. These obstacles were categorized into three types: difficulties in formulating real-world problems systematically, difficulties in using mathematics through concepts, facts, procedures, and reasoning, and difficulties in interpreting solutions from mathematical processes. The didactic design was developed based on these learning obstacles within the indicators of mathematical literacy. The design includes a Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) and statistical learning materials. In general, student responses during the implementation of the didactic design aligned with the anticipated challenges and strategies. However, several new difficulties emerged, which could be addressed with new anticipations.

| Additional Information: | Hambatan belajar siswa pada materi statistika kelas VII SMP pada indikator kemampuan literasi matematis masih sering ditemukan pada proses pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) mendeskripsikan gambaran umum kemampuan literasi matematis siswa pada materi statistika, (2) mengidentifikasi karakteristik learning obstacle dalam menyelesaikan masalah literasi matematis pada materi statistika, (3) mengembangkan desain didaktis pada materi statistika, (4) mengidentifikasi karakteristik learning obstacle setelah implementasi desain didaktis pada materi statistika, dan (5) mendeskripsikan gambaran umum kemampuan literasi matematis siswa setelah implementasi desain didaktis pada materi statistika. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 1 Anyar tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Didactic Design Research (DDR) dipilih sebagai metode dalam penelitian ini yang terdiri atas tiga tahap, yaitu analisis prospektif, analisis metapedadidaktik, dan analisis retrospektif. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara, tes, dan dokumentasi. Temuan dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa mengalami hambatan epistemologis ketika mempelajari materi statistika. Hambatan-hambatan tersebut dikelompokkan menjadi tiga jenis, yaitu hambatan dalam merumuskan masalah nyata secara sistematis, hambatan menggunakan matematika dalam konsep, fakta, prosedur, dan penalaran, dan hambatan dalam menafsirkan solusi dari suatu proses matematis. Pengembangan desain didaktis berdasarkan hambatan belajar yang dialami siswa pada indikator kemampuan literasi matematis. Desain didaktis meliputi Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) dan bahan ajar statistika. Secara umum, tanggapan siswa terhadap pelaksanaan desain didaktis menunjukkan kesesuaian dengan kesulitan dan anitisipasi yang telah diprediksi. Namun, ditemukan kesulitan baru yang dapat diatasi dengan antisipasi baru. | |||||||||
