Abstract
This study aims to identify and explain the functions, meanings, and variations of language within the linguistic landscape of the Banten Girang tourist destination area, and to examine its relevance to the teaching of Indonesian language at the junior high school level, particularly in relation to functional short texts such as banners and posters. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection was carried out using the observation method, specifically the basic eavesdropping technique and the advanced non-participatory observation technique (SBLC), along with note-taking. The data sources for this study were drawn from inscriptions on information boards, signs, walls, warning signs, and other public writings containing language functions, meanings, and variations within the Banten Girang tourist destination area. Data analysis utilized the matching method. Based on the conducted data analysis, a total of 17 data points were found, which can be broken down as follows: (1) 17 data points for language functions (found in all data); (2) 17 data points for language meanings (found in all data); and (3) 8 data points for language variations (found in some data). Several data samples, particularly those in the form of banners, posters, and public notices, have high relevance to Indonesian language instruction at the junior high school level, as they can serve as concrete examples of functional short texts that are contextual and closely related to students’ everyday environment.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menjelaskan fungsi bahasa, makna bahasa, dan variasi bahasa dalam lanskap linguistik di area destinasi wisata Banten Girang serta merelevansikannya dengan pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di tingkat Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP), khususnya pada materi teks fungsional pendek seperti spanduk dan poster. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah desktriptif kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah metode simak dengan teknik dasar sadap dan teknik lanjutan simak bebas libat cakap (SBLC) serta teknik catat. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini bersumber dari tulisan-tulisan pada papan informasi, plang, tembok, tanda peringatan, dan lain-lain yang memuat fungsi Bahasa, makna bahasa, dan variasi bahasa di ruang-ruang publik di area destinasi wisata Banten Girang. Analisis data menggunakan metode padan. Berdasarkan analisis data yang telah dilakukan, ditemukan 17 data dan dapat diperinci sebagai berikut: (1) fungsi bahasa 17 data (ditemukan dalam keseluruhan data); (2) makna bahasa 17 data (ditemukan dalam keseluruhan data); dan (3) variasi bahasa 8 data (ditemukan dalam sebagian data). Beberapa data, terutama yang berbentuk spanduk, poster, dan imbauan, memiliki relevansi tinggi dengan pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di SMP karena dapat dijadikan contoh konkret untuk materi teks fungsional pendek yang kontekstual dan dekat dengan lingkungan siswa. | |||||||||
