Abstract

The study aims to determine the trophic state of Lake Situterate, located in Cikande District, Serang Regency, Banten Province. The research employed a descriptive exploratory method through field surveys and laboratory analyses of physical, chemical, and biological water parameters. Sampling was conducted at five purposively selected stations, with parameters measured including temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), water transparency, chlorophyll-a, total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP), and phytoplankton communities. Evaluation of trophic state was carried out using the Trophic Index (TRIX) method, supported by analyses of the saprobic index and plankton diversity. The results showed that TRIX values ranged from 7,23 to 9,9 indicating a hypereutrophic status at all stations. The dominance of phytoplankton classes were tolerant to pollution, such as Euglenophyceae, reflects high nutrient and organic matter loads due to anthropogenic activities. The results indicate that Lake Situterate is experiencing severe eutrophication, which poses a risk to the aquatic ecosystem's balance if not properly managed.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai kesuburan perairan di Danau Situterate, Kecamatan Cikande, Kabupaten Serang, Provinsi Banten, berdasarkan struktur komunitas fitoplankton dan parameter kualitas air. Danau ini merupakan salah satu perairan penting yang mengalami tekanan akibat aktivitas antropogenik seperti limbah domestik, peternakan, dan pertanian. Pengumpulan data dilakukan pada bulan Februari hingga Maret 2025 di lima stasiun menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Parameter yang diukur meliputi suhu, pH, oksigen terlarut, kecerahan (secara insitu) dan konsentrasi klorofil-a, total nitrogen, total fosfor, serta komunitas fitoplankton (secara exsitu). Penilaian kesuburan dilakukan menggunakan indeks TRIX (Trophic Index), serta dilengkapi dengan analisis indeks saprobik dan hubungan antarparameter kualitas air. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai TRIX berkisar antara 7,23 hingga 9,9, yang mengindikasikan bahwa Danau Situterate berada pada status hipereutrofik. Kondisi ini menunjukkan tingkat eutrofikasi yang sangat tinggi akibat akumulasi nutrien di perairan, dengan risiko ledakan alga dan gangguan ekosistem. Komunitas fitoplankton didominasi oleh kelas Euglenophyceae, yang toleran terhadap lingkungan dengan kandungan bahan organik tinggi. Indeks saprobik menunjukkan variasi tingkat pencemaran, dari sangat ringan hingga cukup berat tergantung stasiun dan waktu pengamatan. Kesimpulannya, Danau Situterate berada dalam kondisi eutrofikasi berat yang dipicu oleh tingginya beban nutrien dari aktivitas manusia. Hasil ini menekankan pentingnya pengelolaan limbah dan perlindungan perairan untuk menjaga keseimbangan ekosistem danau secara berkelanjutan.
