Abstract
This study explored Jenga tower block game as learning and teaching media and examines its impact on students’ reading comprehension at SDN Mekarsari Cilegon. The study employed quantitative research with a quasi-experimental non-equivalent group design. The population of this study was the fifth-grade students of SDN Mekarsari Cilegon. The groups were divided into two; experimental and control with 20 students respectively. Data analysis revealed that the calculated t was higher than the value of t-table at 5% level of significance with degree of freedom (df) 38 of two tailed test. That was 2.232 ≥ 2.042. It means that Null Hypothesis (H0) is rejected and Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It indicated that the use of Jenga tower block game has an impact toward students’ reading comprehension at fifth grade of SDN Mekarsari Cilegon. From these findings, it can be concluded that Jenga tower block game is one educational tool that teachers can use to help students improving their reading comprehension.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi permainan balok menara Jenga sebagai media pembelajaran dan pengajaran serta menguji dampaknya terhadap pemahaman membaca siswa di SDN Mekarsari Cilegon. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain kelompok non-ekuivalen kuasi-eksperimental. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas lima SDN Mekarsari Cilegon. Kelompok dibagi menjadi dua, yaitu kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol yang masing-masing terdiri dari 20 siswa. Analisis data menunjukkan bahwa t hitung lebih tinggi dari nilai t tabel pada taraf signifikansi 5% dengan derajat kebebasan (df) 38 pada uji dua sisi. Yaitu 2,232 ≥ 2,042. Hal ini berarti Hipotesis Nol (H0) ditolak dan Hipotesis Alternatif (Ha) diterima. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan permainan balok menara Jenga memiliki pengaruh terhadap pemahaman membaca siswa kelas V SDN Mekarsari Cilegon. Dari hasil penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa permainan balok menara Jenga merupakan salah satu alat pendidikan yang dapat digunakan guru untuk membantu siswa dalam meningkatkan pemahaman membaca. | |||||||||
